Default I beta tested AP

WEll now thats its released. i can tell you guys why i've been awall for a while. I have been beta testing cobbs access port for the last four weeks. cobb sent out 6 test units and me and the shop i work for now iag performance got #6 my car has been on the dyno and has had about 30 plus pulls testing and tuning and collecting data for cobb and sending it to them. crossbow and hypnotized and malcom on here are good friends of mine and got to see pictures of it first hand when everything was going down. Hope you guys that have it are happy with it and if you're interested in buying one we got some of the first units out. we got ten in today and sold out in about a hour we're getting more in tomorrow but they're going fast. i'll post dyno charts and graphs of all the stages and maps asap for everyone to know. I've literally have spent alot of time testing this thing. had to run each map bone stock, each map just my cobb intake, each map intake and down pipe only, then finally each map intake and down pipe and exhaust. so i have every single possible set-up for the maps and dyno proven for eveyone. take it easy guys. hit me up if you need help

Welcome back Jay. I figured it was odd that you "disappeared" for awhile! Anyhow, any word on offering custom maps to take advantage of the CDFPs and TMICs out there?

So whats your impression on the AP after all of your testing? I know it maybe alittle bias since your working with a shop that sells them, but from a MS3 drivers stand point, whats your honest feedback?

Have you had your car looked at by the dealer for the recent TSB? Is your BOV recirculating or venting to atmosphere? If possible, I would like to keep this thread on topic. It would be ideal for you and any others that would like to communicate to us to respond on the thread that we have created on our forums. Posting on all MS3 forums is not going to be an effective way to communicate to us. If your car is doing anything unusual, please DO NOT drive it hard until your specific mechanical issue is figured out.

Christian.

mazdaspeedJay- I actually bought one of those 10 units from IAG. I talked to Rick on the phone a few days ago and I placed my order with Drew. They seem like a great group of guys there. I plan on making them "my tuner shop" of choice.

Hopefully, I'll have my AP today!!!

heh, yeah. I think a lot of the WRX maps and stuff are version 1.30, so they very well could have had lots of kinks and stuff to be worked out when first released. People with just intake seem to be enjoying it though.

The stutter problem you had i actually had on my car while beta testing the stage two map. wierd cause it only did it for a while and then went away and hasn't done it since so don't know if the ecu learned something or what. was really wierd but the beta map is different then the v100 map i'm assuming. BUT i down loaded the V100 map and it's on my car right now and has been working fine only problem i've had with the v100 vs the vb ( version beta ) is that when my car has sit for a long time and i first start it up i get a rough idle for a couple second and then it goes away. Didn't do it this morning but i did have that problem with the beta map. Since i.a.g is a authorized cobb tuner/dealer we will be getting the street/pro tuner and if i have my way will be creating some new maps for our cars. HalTech... yea i'm sorry i was out for so long i wanted to post on here so bad the day i got the AP and dyno'd it and tell everyone but i was sworn to secretcy so i had to keep my mouth shut. I think in the end we did about 30-40 pulls and my car went from bone stock to modded so many times i think i could mod a speed 3 with my eye close. LOL. We were suppose to be getting a turbo back exhaust from cobb to test out for them but haven't heard any word yet. Yes i still have the beta test AP unit but it doesn't give me live data like the ones that have been released so it's only good for reflashing and changing maps on my car thats it. But it works.

I've been in talks alot with CP-E on their stand back unit vs Cobbs AP alot of people that knew that i was beta testing asking me that same question on what my impressions are on the AP. Really right now it's too early and it's still so new. CP-E has had a head start on cobb but also to me it's alot nicer to just reflash a car then had to buy a plug and play kit if you don't want to sodder and still the hasel of installing the stand back. I think once the pro tuner and street tuner soft wear is released you all will finally be able to unlock the full potential of the AP and it will be SWEET.

I'm interested to see how long it took for his to go away. I could always drive it easy for a day or two, then go WOT once and just see how it goes

How long should it take for the computer to 'learn' and adjust correctly?

LOL at people thinking the car has to learn shit after getting a flash. if it ain't running right on that flash its gonna need a different flash. I would know I've flashed my cobalt atleast 50 times after about 2-5 mins of driving thats that man.

LOL at people thinking the car has to learn shit after getting a flash. if it ain't running right on that flash its gonna need a different flash. I would know I've flashed my cobalt atleast 50 times after about 2-5 mins of driving thats that man.
LOL at people thinking ECUs run to their full potential right after a flash.

I just talked to my buddy about his STi powertrain swapped 02 WRX. He even said the car runs smoother now that he has a few tanks of gas through it. Ive noticed more power now since I have more time behind the wheel after the flash.

Most of the new flash takes affect right away, but the ECU still needs to adapt to a lot of variables. A car at 6000' ASL feet with no humidity is going to run different than a car at 10' ASL, wouldnt you think?

What do you think resetting the ECU is all about?

They were properly tested.. on cars setup differently than the map parameters allow. Cobb does not make catless turboback maps... Look at the requirements for this map and compare them to what people are running...

stage 2 + SF: Turboback exhaust with high flow cat and Cobb SRI only.

I have Corksport TBE w/ a high flow cat and Cobb SRI.

But yes, a lot of other people that have issues are running 'custom' FMIC, some other intercoolers, manifold, catless exhaust. Doesn't really surprise me that theirs is running bad.

how come the stock ecu doenst need time to adjust. I simply got wot and its fine. Ive made huge changes, started the car, drove it to the highway and floored it.....no problems.

Randy bolted on a gt30/manifold/inaccurate boost control...pushed it onto a dyno and it ran fine even after overboosting. Why?

You know why, the ECU us adaptive for one... Cobb fine tuned specific parameters for specific mods. Either give the computer time to re-adjust or pull the map out.

I think our stock ecu is the nuts. If i could add a little fuel down low, and then a hair of timing.... extend throttle a little... Im fucking done. I dont want all the other crap. I like my ecu the way it is. I think for all the heat the standback has taken and this car has taken.... I think looking at my results needs to sit a few people down...

Whats the main thing Ive got? Ive got the cdfp. I dont care what you say I havent seen guys having problems with their cars if they have that mod..

and some have been some jerryrigged outfits but that cdfp is the one wildcard.

Whenever I flashed back my stock map (one I'm really used to and know how it feels), it didn't take hardly any time at all for it to adjust. If it did its just minor stuff, my boost and AFRs were spot on right away as far as I could tell.

Don't believe the hype like some major issue is gonna iron itself out by driving the car and letting the ECU "Learn". Not gonna happen man. Like I said I could flash my cobalt tool around for 2-5 minutes and shes at where shes at. Hell even on the dyno when I would get flashed or the 50 trim and 60-1 trim cobalts would get flashed my friend who tuned them would say drive it on the dyno for 2 minutes then shes good to go.......

2 entirely different systems bro. You are comparing a Cobalt with a open loop WOT ecu to a mazda closed loop WOT ecu.

95% of the cars out there, use open loop @ wot. Mazdaspeed 3/6 is the 5% that doesn't along with some other oddball cars out there.

Mazda designed the car to work good. these cars, in stock form, work great. Mazda doesnt sit back and say, "how can we simplify this ECU so people can easily modify it, blow it up, and say we built a shitty car?"

im with randy...we dont need flashes that change everything. We need a flash does sets the map cut at whatever psi you want, holds the throttle open and thats about it...the rest is history.

Im going to quote myself when i first stated the fuel problem in cobb threads MONTHS ago.

Chris, their is no need to attack them man... Give them a freakin chance to get their maps ironed out. Stop being such a hardass. These guys are engineers, the real deal, not someone who just decided to reflash a ECU for Mazda last week.

The more you talk about the same thing over and over again, the more they are going to ignore you. Worst off, more time wasted to get to the root of the problem and find a fix for it. These threads are going off topic and are a mess. They NEED to be cleaned up.
