(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score first tune was at jeff evans-yes the honda guy in pa went there on said appointment day sat there for four hours and jeff told me my accesport was bad ok so i took the beating taking off work to have it tuned went home sent the brand new ap back to cobb. three days later cobb calls me back and said theres nothing wrong with your ap! ok no erritated i let jeff know what was going on and of coarse he said it wasnt his softwear.ok so i went back the second time after verifying on my computer the ap works.get there he plugs it in no go. ok so then jeff tunes my car on my laptop four hours later go for a ride all seems ok had boost cut made some changes seemed ok.got on the highway to go home did a pull car spits sputters and cut out. ok very angry at this point did a log and let alone my hpfp reading was 235psi at wot!!!!!! no im not missing a number it was 235 psi- babied the car for the remaning 2 weeks and started my bt build. ok car made (315hp 340 wt) now lets fast foward a little after the jeff evans insident i put a bigger turbo in along with all the supporting fuel mods seals/studs/ex now moving car wouldnt run due to maf tables towed car to akuma motorsports nj. ok go to akuma meet john nice guy got talkin blah blah waited did a boost leak test told me everything was ok. about four hours of tuning and only a few dyno runs he comes back and says hes done. ok i asked what the car made he told me he had boost control problums due to internal wastegate. ok so he tells me the car made (334hp 325 wt) less wt then the stock turbo and only 20 hp?????? ok so somthings very wrong with a gtx3071 should be well into the 370s at least,so i left again very angry and disapointed 2 blocks up the street the lower ic pipe blows off!!!!!!!!! so left stranded now in jersey i went to walmart and baught a cheap socket set and fixed it in the parking lot, very very angry at this point i go home and the car pulls in waves -very unhappy with the tune ok so unhappy now with akuma i talked to john at hpfp upgrade or ptp old site or torq motorsports so told him what i went through at akuma and said you def need a tune. i figured ok ill bite 600hp ms3 hes gotta know how to tune.well first tune i got car on cold start burped /farted and gaged its way to warm up. ok drove the car to cal maf told him about issue - made no correction tells me to do wot pulls- ok started to log car hit a wall. explaned it fixed the wall not the poor maf cal. ok more wots .ok cars growing some legs now now boost spikes.car runs like crap backfires,hard start/stalls, flat on bottom end only time car felt ok was during wots, sent john multiple logs and emails as well as phone calls no answer to any of them.2 weeks go by and i am yet again very angry and upset. 2 weeks goes by and john tells me he cannot tune my car due to a mechanical problum and i am still waitng my refund. again very unhappy with tune and customer service i spent well over 1200 bucks on fuel pumps and other asorted pieces and have no issue with those but very poor customer satisfaction ok so now things cant look worse. so angry and disapointed about to give up on my car i emailed skates wich sent out the my death cry for a tune to the perm tuning guys and to my suprise that night i had to emails from the guys at perm tuning, my first map with justin-atvfreek- started the car on cold start and idled beautiful,backfires gone, and now a few maps in were doing wots and the car is becoming a monster!, it took me 3 tunes and alot of money to see progress i would like to thanks skates for helping me out getting in touch with the perm tuning guys and id like to thanks justin-atvfreek for taking the time to look at the logs i sent him prior to even paying for a tune! if your looking for a tune talk to one of the perm tuning guys these guys know there stuff, id like to thank you guys for helping me out and hopefully i can get some of those perm tuning stickers and eventually meet up with you guys at one of the meets, again i cant thank you guys enough!! thank you ed howie

| Not Ranked : 0 score Damn Ed, that's one Hell of a tuning journey. One of the most critical parts of the tune is the maf cal. So if these guys didn't spend any time dialing that in, they missed the most important step of a solid tune. I'm happy your car is running good man, and thank you for sharing your story! | Not Ranked : 0 score Great to see things getting straight before that thing blew to pieces!!! The tuners here have some serious skills. I gotta say tho, your post really illustrates the need for people to be able to do some minor things like a MAF Cal if for no other reason than to be able to defend yourself & have some slight idea of what's going on & why it's important. There's enough core info available here for people to do a "connect the dots" level map that would be safe enough to daily drive. Then you can communicate with one of the pro's here & let them set up an e-tune that'll make even your mama get the chills.

| Not Ranked : 0 score having similar issues. took it to a local tuner here in ny. still getting random misfiring issues even after tune. My dumbass took the car to him twice to get tuned..i just got done emailing dj for an etune...never again will i go back to anyone around here. i am tired of shitty dyno numbers. my car got 266whp and 275 tq and drives like crap EDS sorry for all the issues you have been having but based on the countless positive reviews from these guys here on the forums your in good hands. |
