(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I have a 3" catless exhaust, hpfp internals, fmic. I installed the ots tune from Versatune for 98 octane high load high flow downpipe. Unfortunately my WGDC quickly goes up, while my boost pressure drops with load as well. No knock is detected. Do I have a boost leak? Whcih components do I have to check, like bpv and wastegate? Thanks for the help! |

The K04 cannot sustain 17 psi at high rpm on pump gas. It turns into a flamethrower and just superheats the air. Boost has to taper to 15 psi approaching redline to save itself, and that is what it is properly doing. You may get more power by reducing boost up high, increasing timing and keeping AFR rich. What fuel? Run the best 93 octane or add a couple gallons of E85 per tank of gas.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Thanks for the helpful review, I appreciate it! I'm running on OMW MaxxMotion 100 in Europe. I've seen others here running even 20 psi, and holding 18 psi under high rpm with the ko4 I'm only flowing around 220 g/s, isn't that too low? Please tell more that can help me understand the situation. Even the OTS map targets a higher boost and much lower WGDC, that's why I think I might have mechanical problem. I'm really happy to learn if my situation is normal, but I want to know the reasons. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score for sure, a tune won't help to make more boost when the wastegate duty is already maxed out on the turbo....(A proper tune have other benefits but not thoses) But keep in mind the boost level isn't that revelant, it tell more about the restriction of your engine. One could be making twice your power with the exact same boost level with huge turbo and engine works.... What is strange is flow level, you actually have a less restrictive exaust that should allow for more flow at this wastegate duty level. I would be expecting 260-280g/s... If you would have a leak after the turbo, that reading would just increase... You could have a bad maf scaling into the tune against your intake size....this would be confirmed by the maf cal. process.... If you aren't very higher than sea level and all the above is ok, you may have something restrictive in the intake or exhaust path.... You may also have something wrong with your ebcs....you may try to disconnect it(electric) and see if it reduce your power a lot like it should happen. If not you may check if the bypass air path is ok and if the solenoid operate well. You can also check if the wastegate rod is holding tight the flapper inside the turbo. there is a lot more things that could make this....a damaged turbo wheel, leaking wastegate flapper, a bad filter etc...........

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I currently have stock intake, so I'm using the ots calibration. The tubing after the turbo has no leaks, holds 2 bar steady no problem. My next tought is to check the wastegate and the ebcs as well. If I disconnect the ebcs connector, I will be running on spring pressure, so I will lose some boost, right? If I make the same figures, it means something is wrong with the ebcs. I have an open 3" exhaust with no cats, the car was serviced lately, so it should have nothing inside. Also sounds great, can't really hear anything special. I will get some more logs today and post them here, thanks for the help! |

| Not Ranked : 0 score stock intake ? you mean the oem restrictive plastic box with a square paper filter ? or oem size maf hosing ? i never tested a k04 on spring pressure with your conditions to validate but it would be like 0%wg duty....but restrictions in the vaccuum line returning to the turbo inlet hose would decrease the effect of the wastegate duty as well

| Not Ranked : 0 score I went back and looked at some of my old logs. At 220 g/s mass air flow, the wastegate was more at 55-60% duty cycle under load. Know this, though: g/s alone is not the story. If the fuel is rich and timing is advanced, you can make a lot more power on the K04 than people realize based on air mass flow alone. I don't think my tune ever allowed more than 240-250 g/s with a good aftermarket high flow AEM/Mazdaspeed CAI and catless 3" dp/rp,. But, with very aggressive timing advance of 17-18 degrees at high rpm and rich AFR for cylinder cooling to permit that much timing without knock, it was making 300-310 whp on 93 pump gas on the little K04. I think there must be a combination of low flow on the intake side and something going on regarding the operation of the wastegate (EBCS, wastegate actuator, wastegate flap or such). Just a suspicion. It's probably hitting target boost for the tune, but working way too hard to get there.)

| Not Ranked : 0 score with full bolt on for my 6 and a 2.5'' exaust i was seeing above 260gs without going that high in wg duty for sure but i don't have much logs or the k04 to test again....
