It is. Keeps knock at bay. Adds about 30hp too. More and more e85 stations are popping up here in San Diego. Just have both maps and you can switch between 91 and e85 when you cant find a station

E85 is super easy to fill up I run a e33 mix just pull up the mix chart and follow the ratio of gas to e.... It's too easy

Besides switch back to your pump tune if you go for long drives like travelling etc you still have both avail to use

Id do it, I was hesitant as well but the gains are incredible and the worst that can happen is you cleaning the hpfp once in a blue moon. I had about 280hp on freektune OTS plus and when I made the switch im seeing 300-310hp on same mods. Its like corn fairy juice.

You know... If you were running E85 it would be much better in the heat, cooler combustion temps ftw! Sorry I had to

Mine were almost maxed out. That's why I went larger intake before ordering my full tune.

This is a pretty good idea of Stock sized MAF's and what they should flow at 5v on a BNR.
I'm 3" and my last log is hitting 4.18v @ max flow of 311g/s.

Well, its been a while since my last post. I am now in the middle of a touchup tune from @Justin@Freektune;, since I installed my FMIC. With it getting hot here in Arizona, my BATs were still getting pretty retarded, after my boost targets were raised to 21psi. It had to be reduced.

I have been struggling to find a way to keep them low. Not looking to go E or meth...yet. I have a TB TIG, a coolant bypass kit and alternate upper radiator hose, in hand. This shit is going in, today!! I am hoping with the rad hose off the cold pipe and the other mods installed that I see some kind of BAT temp drop. *fingers crossed*.

I took a variety of logs yesterday (low BATs and high BATs), after I got the V2-C revision. When my BAT's start around 130 I get hit or miss KR, at WOT.
I'll be doing more logs, after install.

I also got a silicone sleeve to slip over the IC pipe that runs next to the AC line, to insure it is not causing false knock. It does not touch. But, it 'could' be hitting under quick acceleration. The KR I get is pretty inconsistent.

All in all, the FMIC was clean. Great fit, regardless of the CS core and CX racing mix, minus a few temp clamps that will be swapped out to day as well, with new ones.

That FMIC looks great, how much did you spend on the whole kit?

Have you changed your mind on e85 yet? Im also in AZ seeing 0 KR with BATs around 120-130. YOUR MAZDA NEEDS E85 IN HER LIFE!

The parts for the kit were all purchased used.

$150 for the CS core
$130 for the CX pipes couplers and clamps
$30 for powdercoating the 2 upper hot pipes and cold pipe, off the TB.
then $? for a few extra T-bolt clamps.

$310, roughly.

I know I need E to get more power. I am just a fill her up and go type of guy. Not really wanting to deal with mixing and such. I still don't know much about E85. I also heard that MPG goes down. I get crappy MPG already and grive at least 90 miles a day.

I plan to go BNR S3 in the near future. so I know I can get more power there, just not as much as I know I can get on E85 or meth. But it will still be more. Who knows, maybe my thoughts on mixing and MPG will change.

You would be off using Meth/water mix, since it won't affect your mileage since it's uses it when it's needed. And also it'll clean your intake valves as well.

Nice I have been wanting FMIC but couldn't justify dropping 600+ on a kit, maybe if I can piece one together slowly my wife wont notice

As for the mixing, I used to be paranoid but as long as you keep a somewhat consistent ratio its not a big deal, if im all the way empty, I fill 4 gallon E rest 91, half tank I do 2 gallon e 6 gallon 91. Essentially 1 gallon of e for 3 g of 91. and all I do is fill her up and go too! There is a Chevron on 48th and Broadway next to skyharbor which is only 3 miles out of my way when i'm driving to work so I don't mess with filling up fuel containers.

Gas mileage drop isn't drastic, hardly noticeable, I live in Maricopa(City) and drive to Mesa for work every day so about 70 mile round trip and on the 91 map im getting 26 mpg, with E im getting 24.5, with a 16 gallon tank your talking a difference of 24 TOTAL Miles PER TANK, I think that's worth it for an extra 20+hp &TQ

That's basically why I did it the way I did. Baby, wife and budget.

It's is less of a hit, financially and isn't too much of a shock to the wife, since its not all at once.

Yeah very true, I bought a house before I started wanting to mod the car so I put myself in a bit of a pickle haha, I was thinking about jumping on a kit I saw on craigslist not too long ago but it went pretty quick, did you buy the CX kit off ebay or something?

Got the CX kit off Mazdaspeed2 Owners FB page and the CS core off the AZ Nator FB page. The CX kit was in pretty back shape. But I got a powdercoating quote before buying it. I'll post up pics of how they looked, if I can find them.

I just might, for the fun of it, as soon as my wife lengthens my leash. LOL. We are still adjusting to life with a newborn and I am on the other side of town.

Ok. So I installed the alternate radiator hose. Turned out GREAT!! so much clearance!! I also go the coolant bypass done. I didn't use the JBR barb fitting. Since I had the coolant drained, I just rerouted the coolant hose back to the other side. I included a pic of the new radiator hose, it installed and of the clearance. You have to cut it down to fit. But yeah. pretty cool to finally have that hose off the cold pipe.

Any idea how long it took you to receive each revision during your full tune? It's about a full week between each revision and I'm only on my 1st.

Thanks. I have been tuned 3 other times with Justin and that's what I experienced before. So i'm wondering what response time everyone is having right now. I know he's pretty busy and don't want to bother the dude

At the time 3 or 4 days, I believe. But my recent revisions have been about a week. He's a popular man. He's been pretty swamped.

So when he sends you a revision is it a whole new map attached to the new email or do you re-download the first base map?? I'm asking cause he sent me an email saying he did the revisions but there was no attachment. I've been trying since last week to get in contact with him

Yeah, it'll say whatever he named the tune, then a hyphen "letter of revision". "A" being the base. (i.e.: 2007pro-B) for 2nd rev.

At least that's how mine is.
