I went to a 3.5in the first time and I don't have rough idle. Later I'll be upgrading the turbo.

I ran 3.5" htp for a while and was having idle issues and it kind of stumbled off idle. That cleaned up with 3", plus my maf resolution went from max 4.2v to 4.5v, so it was using more of the table. I was able to dial in afrs a little better.

It may be because of the Honeycomb straightener that HTP uses for their intakes.

I had issues using intakes that uses those and I have 3.5in with the two straight fins as the straighter like JBR and Corksport has for their intakes.

I am digging the size difference! Got her all installed and slumming it with a Cobb Stage 2 OTS, for now. not digging the power loss though. anxiously awaiting my Freektune base map.

From the looks of the sludge shown in the turbo pic, its time for an OCC?

An OCC is always a good thing but the crap in the turbo is the turbo leaking as well. Plan for both eventually

The AEM Mazdaspeed also employed the two fin to reduce turbulence.
The honey comb from HTP is not a design that makes a ton of sense to me.
Is the stock MAF sensor something that should be replaced once the ID is over 3" ?

Yeah, I have heard that you can special request a HTP intake to have those two fins as a replacement of the honeycombs.

What can you replace it to? I'm still running my stock MAF.

It's the MAP sensor that need to be upgraded, once you start hitting higher boost pressures, correct?

Yeah, since the stock one only reads to 22.5psi. I'm going to get the Corksport 3.5 MAP sensor when it's time.

I was searching high and low for a v dyno of his base map. I flashed mine and was getting ~230 whp. I know v dyno numbers don't matter much, but that seemed extremely low.

Good to see the revision is where the power comes from.

I was hitting 234whp on my base. In the end you should be around 270ish on the OTS+, in cool weather, depending on your mods. Have patience. I felt the same way. I have since added more mods and went E33 tune and am rockin' 309whp on my last vdyno.

Always chose the same smooth strip of road, start at the same RPM and start at the point in the road, when doing datalog for VD. You'll get the best results. I had to switch my logging road recently, as I have to do all 4th gear logs or roll into the throttle in 3rd, as I always seem to get a bit of slippage, in 3rd, if I stab the gas pedal. Throws off the VD plot.
