Even my OTS map will fix your boost control issues unless its something hardware related that cannot be tuned out

Just wanted to let you know I received my base map tonight from Justin. I flashed it and drove around for a while. I am by no means an expert so I will do my best to describe his map.

First, what I was using. I was using the CS stage 2 map with various tweaks. I was following Bucker's guide in most areas. Per Cobb's guide, I conservatively set my boost targets to 18psi based on my mods. I used SnailD's aggressive DBW tables and a 9 percent reduction of basically OTS APP tables. This all made for a boost happy car that hit pretty hard around 3500 rpm.

This tune feels very different to me since I was used to such quick pedal response and early boost.
I have to say I really like the base map Justin gave me. It feels much easier to drive around town. Low end, out of boost, power feels stronger. The pedal requires more pressure, and feels a bit more like stock. The boost comes on strong later in the pedal position, feels different, and actually sounds different. Perhaps Justin has done some timing improvements or he's adding load based tuning which was not present in my previous map.

In short, whatever he's doing, I really like it. Power feels quite different but stronger throughout the rpm range. This map doesn't seem to make a lot of noise like my previous map but feels quicker even though this is his base map. I am very impressed. I cannot wait to gather his requested logs and see what he comes up with.

Also, his excellent work has convinced me to go ahead and get a full e-tune.

While the OTS+ is a great option for some, getting the full tune support is the best option. If you're going tune, you might as well get it done right the first time. For my ST, the difference between the first revision, and the map I have now (4th revision) is noticeably different. I personally have never been a believer of running an OTS map, mainly because we all drive differently in different environments and different climates, so running an OTS map is the lazy way out. Way too much at stake when it comes to tuning to try to save $75.

If I were you guys, I'd wait an extra week or two, save the extra pennies and just get the full support. Justin will grow with the car, and you will fall back in love with your car, like the first time you drove it off the lot.

You MS3 chaps have a lot to gain from a simple tune, unlike my little 2.0. Get the full e-tune support, you'll be happy you did.

I don't believe Justin sells these as "OTS" maps. The + signifies that it is beyond a cookie cutter standard tune. He tailors each sale to your specific vehicle, given your mods. He then has you run some logs and dials everything in for you. Not quite a full tune but much more than a standard OTS tune, reflected in the lower price. Comparing the base map he sent me to a standard OTS show considerable improvement. He supplementary revision should be even better.

Like you say, however, a full tune gets full potential out of your car and your mods. That is why I decided to go ahead and get the full tune. The few conversations I've had with Justin let me know I can trust him to take care of my car.

BTW, how do you like your ST? They are really growing on me.

Justin definitely takes the OTS maps a step further, which why freektune is so amazing. But still..... Full tuning support is the only way to go. I know in the ST community, not many people know or knew about freektune prior to a few weeks ago. I had been reading up on him and had been in talks with Justin for a little before I pulled the trigger. I'm so happy I did.

I love my ST. Everything about it is great, EXCEPT the awful exhaust note. I personally love the MS3 sound so the ST leaves me wanting more in that area. That, and the tiny k03 is starting to be a pain in the ass. Overall though it's a great car. Of course it's all subjective because I think the MS3 is a great car, lol.

I haven't heard any ST's other than stock in video reviews. It's interesting to note that the base map Justin gave me has changed how much deceleration drone I had inside the car. With my previous map it was really getting on my nerves. So much so that I added a second resonator. It's much more tolerable.

I'm currently on my 3rd map of a full tune from Justin and it's great. My car has limited mods (see below, it's pretty light compared to a lot of the peeps around here) and it's infinitely better than the OTS Cobb map. The Cobb maps felt twitchy and choppy. The car feels more powerful, smoother and I think I'm getting better gas mileage too which wasn't really a concern... Regardless, Justin has been great.

And that ST sounds great. A guy that works for me has one that's bone stock and it's so quiet, sounds like he's driving a Prius. Okay, maybe not a Prius but it's quiet and especially compared to my MS3! Definitely cool cars though, good luck with it.

Finished up my OTS + and I must say that its awesome. I thought I was doing a decent job tweaking my cobb OTS map myself, but this is sooo much better. Best money spent so far. Only 1 downside though...I am going to HAVE to get a full tune with an e85 map now.

Sweet. I should have my logs done and sent to Justin in the morning to update my base map. I can't wait for the changes he makes. I went ahead and decided to go with the full tune after enjoying just the base map. That, plus the full e-tune is on sale right now. Can't beat his excellent work for such a low price.

I wish I had the extra funds for the full tune right now, but I have a few more parts I want to get before I do the full tune so I can wait. I'm just glad I have a safe, reliable, and powerful tune right now.

That was the most important factor for me in going with a Freektune. I was playing so much with my tune that I began to worry if it was becoming detrimental. Putting my tune in much more knowledgeable hands puts my mind at ease.

I just purchased the OTS+ tune a few minutes ago. I'm currently running the Cobb Stage 2 OTS v231 map. I will report back when I'm tuned and compare the two.

Woohoo got my map - just have to wait until tomorrow to swap the plugs out and then put the required milage on the car.

Quick question, what are the default logging parameters for the datalogs? What items should I be logging?

Here is an example datalog from a previous one I've done. More or less than that info? (this is not a log on the Freektune OTS map)

There is a section in the AP, under options to reset to the default logs parameters. If you haven't added or removed an check marks on what it logs you should be fine. I went ahead and reset them just to be safe.

This is great stuff. The tune has held me back on several of my cars, not knowing who to go to, having to be done in person. The etune option for this car and the great results people are getting is exciting. I love to do all the mechanical work, but don't have the time or the balls to do the tune from scratch. I will be watching freektune threads closely!

I thought I would provide an update on my Freektune for those still on the fence. I received my supplementary update last night. There is a significant improvement over the initial base map. The power increase is very noticeable from idle all the way to red line. Boost is also quite a bit stronger now. But, beyond the power increase, I am so impressed with how much more driveable my car is now. If I want to cruise around town it is very easy. If I want to jump on the power and get moving quickly, it is right there when I need it.

I thought I was doing a good job tuning on my own. Now, I realize my work was decent at best.

Justin's work has transformed my car. It is easy to see why people have said his tunes are the best money they have spent on their car.

My initial map for my + tune is leaps and bounds better than the Cobb ots crap. I flashed it yesterday and am putting the requested milage on the car (well more cause wife wanted to go shopping so I'll have probably close to 100 miles before I can do some logs).

I have noticed in the few little good pulls I've done boost is pretty good and strong. Can't wait to do my logs and send them in.

I have also received my base OTS+ map and it's a night and day difference from Cobb's OTS. The car maintains excellent driveability while having plenty of power when you want it. The power band is silky smooth and boost hits like a champ. Note all of this is without the supplemental revision and it's hard to believe it could be even better.

For those of you that are on the fence about the OTS+ tune, please do yourself a favor and buy it. You will not be disappointed.
