They have the vtcs too? Or are the codes still going to be a thing?
How much does one of the st manis go for second hand?
Will the kits include a way of routing fmic piping or is it something you can easily grab?

No VTCS in the ST manifold. Also given the price of the manifold new ... well if it fits this is a win for the community.

With the TB being right at the bottom on the FoST manifold and air flowing straight upwards, I'd imagine it flows more evenly across all cylinders since there is no "sharp bend" like ours has to cyl 4. Curious to see how it all got piped up. Also time to show this to a friend with a FoST so he can say it's crazy, which means that you folks are doing it right. #tittyslip .

IIRC in reading other forums the ST manifold flows nearly as well as a JMF and costs less than $100. Boy do I hope this becomes available soon.

We all know plastic is really light. Less weight = better acceleration and less understeer since it's positioned in front of the front axles. The CPE mani weighs like 40lbs according to their own site. This plastic mani can't weigh more than 5 ?

Less heat soak too, and the flow imbalance is a lot lower from the looks.

Balanced flow. The ST intake manifold goes straight down with 1&4 and 2&3 runners being equal length, instead of the drastically-sharp bend that air needs to make with the stock intake on our engines.

Focus ST Intake Manifold flow bench tested:

Runner 1) 331 CFM
Runner 2) 336 CFM
Runner 3) 329 CFM
Runner 4) 337 CFM
Total) 1333 CFM
~2% flow imbalance


Mazdaspeed Intake Manifold:

Runner 1) 199
Runner 2) 235
Runner 3) 233
Runner 4) 192
Total) 859 CFM
~20% flow imbalance


Will the Focus ST plastic manifold go bang under boost?:

Realistically, probably not. It was pressure tested to 27 PSI on an ST head, which turned out to be the static float point of the stock intake valves (point at which the head leaks boost into the cylinder):

Later on,it was pressure tested to 110 PSI on its own (sitting in a big bang proof enclosure) which only resulted in blowing couplers.

TL;DR: Can't argue with hard data, that plastic manifold is legit.

There are a lot of similarities between the ST and DISI ... like the throttle body bolt pattern and sizing .

Also this really opens up the ability to run under-engine intercooler piping.

There are also advantages to plastic:
- heat rejection
- weight
- cost
