Default Damond Trilogy Mounts Review

So I've been around here for a little while, gone through two gen wons, and plenty of motor mounts too. Ive had TRZ TMM, CPE Stage 1 and Stage 2 RMM as well as PMM, JBR 88 RMM, Sure RMM, and shit probably some others that I have forgotten about too. But when I saw Damond release his RMM design last year, I was intrigued. Decided to pick one up and swap it out for my CPE stage 2. I was thoroughly impressed with how it held the engine more securely (in my opinion) and actually had less vibes.

I had ordered the PMM along with the RMM, so a couple days after installing the RMM, on went the PMM. Immediately I could hear lots of cool timing chain noises, along with some vibes from my passenger mirror when at very low rpms. No big deal though, factory PMM is a piece of shit and I have too much invested in my car for the motor to smack the highway at 120 mph+. The noise and some of the vibes subsided after about 1000 miles or so. I did still have some interior panel vibes when I had the windows up and A/C on, which was usually only when I had the ole lady in the car after she had just fixed her hair, but whatever I would just turn up the radio.

So then came the TMM release, I ordered one within three minutes of getting the email from Damond that they were available for purchase, and received it yesterday. Like a fat kid on Halloween I rushed home after work to install it. Matt hadn't put up any install instructions on the site yet so I kind of had to guess on the orientation of the bushing, because one side of the bushing carrier protrudes a little more than the other, but I think I got it right because it went together with no issue.

The difference that these mounts made was unbelievable. I was expecting a slight decrease in motor movement, but what I got was a motor that doesn't move at all, and the shifts are fucking unreal now. I had to relearn my clutch action because now I can actually feel the clutch engagement so much better, and the clutch engagement is also consistent every time now instead of varying depending on gear and engine load.

The addition of the TMM was the icing on the cake to me, it's like driving a totally different car now, and there was only the slightest increase in vibes over just having the RMM and PMM, which will probably decrease over time like it did with the others. If you want to protect your engine and trans from catastrophic stock mount failure (which does happen just do some searching) without sacrificing a ton of NVH, then do yourself and your car a favor and order these mofos ASAP.

@Matt@DamondMotorsports; and @Farhan@DM; keep up the excellent work and I will keep buying it

My CP-E rear bushing is shit again. Warranty will fix it, but I have been considering just getting a Damond rear... Much more likely after your review, and might have to really just get all three!

Forgot that I actually bought the PMM and RMM together, just installed them a few days apart. Edited OP to clarify some.

Here is a video of a start up on @nindoja;'s car with all 3 mounts from last weekend that shows the lack of motor movement with these mounts.

based on @King Scumbag;s review in the main TMM thread, I am thinking I might have installed the bushing backwards...fail

Edit, according to Matt via pm I actually installed it correctly...

If it bolted up, it's fine. Bushing is offset for additional clearance, and adjustment where needed.

It's ok, I installed the bushing backwards. Took it back out yesterday and put it in correctly.

I'll be putting up a little review also in a week or so, but so far, the 3 of these feel amazing.

If someone can tell the difference between JBR trilogy and this combo from DM ... in term of vibes and rattles.

is it 25% less than the JBR Trilogy or maybe 15% harder (vibes and rattle) than the OEM ... something to give a good idea in term of vibes and rattle ... I already try the JBR Trilogy and it's way to much for me (the rear miror barely usebale and during winter here -30 Celcius (big rattle and vibes) but I really like the change they made (better shifting and no loss of power with the slop of the engine) but right now I just have the JBR RMM 88 duro, OEM TMM, OEM PMM. The car still be comfortable about vibes and rattle, I think I can have space for increase but I don't want a BIG difference.

Thanks for your help about this

If you read the TMM reviews thread from beta testers, quite a few went from JBR to this set and compared them. However, NVH being so subjective, no one is likely to put a number on the change of NVH. Read the reviews from testers, and you'll get a good idea of the differences.

How are these things when engine braking or coasting?

I'm really on the edge about replacing my current trilogy. Vibes and mirrors are fine but the noise is annoying. When engine braking the whole car feels like a rollercoaster ride that Jim Bob at the carnival put together with only stripped nuts, a hammer, and a crescent wrench.

To be honest there is noticeable vibing after a wot run but not every time, I just blip the throttle when it does that. In normal driving I have not noticed it on deceleration or coasting. The vibes after wot may decrease over time as the bushing breaks in.

From everything I have read so far I would say it cant be much at all. I would say 10-15% increase over stock with upgraded RMM? Right now I have the Cp-e stage 2 rmm and the only time I notice any vibes at all is when putting strain on the motor at low speeds and a high gear other than that I would compare it mostly to stock now after 15k miles. I just ordered the PMM and TMM today so I can back that up a lot better once they are installed.

After break in period ... what is your feeling about these mounts ...

Someone put almost 1000-1500 km on it ...

to know if the NVH and rattle settle down and these mounts became more silent ...

They are great, but you're never going to have a silent car with aftermarket mounts. If you want silent and sloppy then stick with the stock mounts.

From what i heard, they are pretty quiet for aftermarket mounts to begin with. They are going to fail eventually, might as do them right.

My question is just if they will settle down after break in period and if yes the feedback from a user that already drive 1000 to 1500 km with them ...

Yes they will. Many people have stated this; it's a normal thing with aftermarket mounts due to the bushings.

Like Geoff said, they will settle in some.

If you've read the reviews I directed you towards earlier in this thread, read this and other reviews as well, but are still concerned about vibrations, I am guessing aftermarket side mounts are simply not for you. Any aftermarket side mount has increased vibrations. According to most reviews, the DM set has less than others, but still increases vibrations over OEM. In all reality, unless you have a lot of power, and race in some form often, OEM side mounts hold up just fine. Shifting will always be more sloppy than it would with aftermarket mounts, but seriously, if all of the opinions and reviews out there do not give you enough information to calm your concerns about vibration, vibration simply is not for you. It's ok.

I keep mental tally of the failed PMMs that defecate in the engine bay - most of the failures posted were between 60 and 80K miles, most still on K04s (might even be worse for engine movement with that instant torque hit) and a few of those otherwise fully stock.

I think they're just unreliable OEM parts. 2¢

True. I suppose "hold up just fine" was the incorrect wording. My point is more that the OEM mounts are inexpensive to replace with OEM. Unless you have a need for the motor to be planted, if you're super concerned about vibration, replacing blown OEM mounts with OEM is probably the best solution.

I, like @Addikted To Boost; , had the Damond RMM and PMM prior to purchasing the TMM. Personally, this is a set of mounts best enjoyed together. Felt like I had more vibes before adding the TMM. Maybe the oem TMM was on its way out.

I ussually put mounts thru the wife test. She can tell right away when installed but she didn't even notice having all three in place. And I have a bsd as well. I'll take some vibes over wheel hop any day. Haven't experienced wheel hop at all since installing all 3. Car feels well planted and much more engaging to drive.
