Default S-OTS+ E85 Edition

Due to popular demand, we decided to expand our S-OTS+ offerings by having an E85 option available.

This is only available for Stage 2 cars with an HPFP upgrade.

The maps are designed to take advantage of E85 while still staying within safe limits and are built to work with any intakes or bolt ons as long as the OEM K04 is used and the stock boost control system is still in place. They will offer higher performance than an S-OTS+ Stg2.

Stratified MazdaSpeed / Mazda MPS S-OTS+ E85 Tune

This is great opportunity to sample Stratified tunes as well as what E85 has to offer!

A few of the S-OTS+ E85 edition maps are going out. Make sure you always have the E85 mix in the tank when running these.

@Lex;

Put some E85 in the tank and loaded my Stratified OTS+ E85 map. Noticeable power increase...even in the 90+ degree weather in NC today. Thanks guys!

You're welcome sir!

It should feel quite a bit faster than the S-OTS+ stg2. I estimate that on most setups it should be at least 20-30whp over the stg2.

If that is the case I should be pushing at least 300 whp...maybe even a little more. Awesome!

Post up a vdyno of the two maps if you get a chance. Make sure temperatures are consistent between the pulls.

@Lex; Hey Lex just a couple questions here. I have one of your ots maps already and im getting my UR test pipe in the mail tomorrow. So just to be safe I was going to buy another map because a tune isnt in my budget yet and I noticed the new e-85 maps. Would this map be safe to run as a regular daily thing or just a short period of time? And also I don't have a downpipe so am I good with just the test pipe? And last question is how many gallons of e85 are supposed to be in the mixture? I'm new to E85 so I'm just trying to be 100% about its safety, not trying to seem like a noob lol Thanks again Lex

This should answers most of your questions.Stratified MazdaSpeed / Mazda MPS S-OTS+ E85 Tune [Stratified Mazda S-OTS+ E85 Tune] - $50.00CAD : Stratified Automotive Controls
As far as how much e85, it 4 gallons per tank. Looking at your mods it looks like you have what you need for it and I highly recommend it. I only have about 100 miles on it right now and it feels soooooo buttery smooth. And you can see from my v-dyno I gained 40hp from it. Of course all cars will be different so you may gain more or less. But in my opinion this is an amazing step between a full tune and the other ots tunes. Let's you get a taste of what the car can do before really opening her up with the pro tune.

First I just want to confirm you have an S-OTS+ and not just an S-OTS correct?

A race pipe is fine as the only exhaust modification for the S-OTS+ E85. The amount of E85 is 4 gallons when filling up an empty tank and the rest premium pump fuel. As long as you have the mix done correctly you won't have issues with the E85. It never hurts to keep an eye on your parameters (we send you an e-mail with what to keep an eye on with the map) since you are running a performance map.

^^yes.

So just a quick review..

Once I placed the order, Stratified contacted me in less than 16 business hours and once I sent the tuning form over, they had my map to me that evening. I cannot express enough thanks for the expedience.

So as far as the MAP goes, just like any other Stratified map, the car runs perfectly like it left the factory floor, except when you put the foot down. HUGE difference between the standard S-OTS stage II. So anyone still running stage 1 maps, expect a colossal change in the attitude of your car. Once ambient temps dropped a bit today I took it back out again and damn does it pull...

I got a log before e85 and retune two days ago after work when ambient temps were about 85 with a half tank of gas and only me in the car. I'll be at about a half tank tomorrow and the forecast is showing 88 degress for tomorrow so I should be able to get another log for comparison.

I wish it was easier to express my satisfaction and gratitude with these maps and the Stratified crew, but this short review will have to do.

Thank you!
Joshua Day

Dude, its been posted in this thread TWICE. Put FOUR GALLONS of e85 in on an empty or near empty tank and fill up the rest of your tank with 93.. it says it in the info Stratified provides..

Anyways, post up some results when you get the map flashed in! You gonna love it.

Continuing yesterday's discussion, below are the before/after vdynos. Blue is before and red after. The only difference being slightly higher ambient temp/BATs on today's run. Fuel level, occ. weight, and location are the same. I also had my map tuned for my mods in sig but with the addition of CP-e tmic, WHICH I HAVE NOT INSTALLED YET (hasn't shipped).

My afr's are a touch on the lean side and fuel trims are higher on this map than on the regular s-ots but when I flashed the map in, I pretty much jumped right on the highway. Idk if this has any correlation.

But enough typing... DATALOG1 is from 5/20 before e85 and DATALOG2 is from today. I apologize for cutting datalog1 short but you can see where things are going...

oops i guess i must of read past where lex said 4 gallons my bad guys. and for sure will do. i mean if its that way im guessing for my first fill up i can just put 4 gallons of e85 while my tank is half way full since there is no e85 in there yet. then after that do it like you guys say. thanks again

Okay so a quick review of my experience. I just got back from doing a couple of runs. I logged two of them. 4th gear from 3k rpm-6k rpm. My experience went this way. I filled my tank with the 4 gallons of e85 and the rest 93 premium. I took it slow for a couple of miles. By my house there is a long empty strip where I did the runs. What I found weird was the very first time I punched it on my way home, I was going up the highway ramp on second gear and once i pressed the gas down the car kind of jumped and hiccuped and jumped again so I let off the gas because it scared me. Then the whole way down the highway it was just TAKING OFF. then going to do my runs the car got a weird screechy sound for about 30 seconds. It started as I went around 20 mph and I stopped immediately to see if it was the car passing me and it wasn't. So I rode up a little and as I went the sound would get louder and then went away as I drove. The sound was like the sound old cars get because of their shitty power steering where it screeches loud as fuck for a minute. I said whatever and went to do my runs. Both runs were amazing and the power the car has gained is incredible. @Lex; and his crew know what they are doing. I can't wait to get my full tune and see the power that brings. I can't post dyno charts do to the fact I have a mac lol but I do have the log runs which I would appreciate if someone would take a quick look. Everything seemed great. Just those two things I mentioned scared the crap out of me! what could that have come from?

The logs look very good and glad they felt good.

Hard to say what those 2 initial things are related to but a squealing belt is certainly not related to the tune so perhaps it is a coincidence that you had a hiccup and also have a belt that is wearing out.

Make sure your plugs are gapped to 0.026" to avoid misfires especially with E85.

Perfect thank you! From my understanding we have 16 gallon gas tanks. so 4 gallons of e85 is around 25% of that. so 25% is what we should always aim for basically no matter how many gallons we fill up? What is the percent and ratio we should always go for?

This is correct 25% by volume.

I am very interested in switching to E85. These might be stupid questions but I would rather play it safe then sorry.
Once the tune is on what would happen if you couldn't get to a gas station and you didn't end up running E85 . Also what would happen if the mixture percentages got messed up. I don't anticipate on either of these happening but I've always wanted to know. Thanks for the help!

Good questions:

1. If you can't fill with E85, simply switch to a map that is not designed for E85.
2. If mixtures get mixed up a little bit (say by a gallon) then it should not damage anything. However if the mixture is a lot more drastic the following can happen:

- If you don't have any E85 you will experience knock under heavy WOT. The knock sensor will take care of most it but this is not ideal. At this point switch to a non E85 map.
- If you have above 50% E85 then you might gum up the HPFP fuel pump (it will need a cleaning to restore pressure) and there have been reports of the fuel level sender failing from extended use of E85 above 50%.

But there is a margin there that is safe. If the target is 4 gallons for a full tank of E85, putting in 3 gallons or 5 gallons one time by mistake is not going to damage things.

One last question. If I order the e85 tune would you also include a map that doesn't involve e85 incase this did happen? Or would I be required to purchase another map?

If you specifically want a non E85 Stratified map, we have several options:

1. The SOTS for JBR Powerpath intakes that is free.
2. The SOTS+ for any intake installed.
3. A full custom tune.

Pasted: I can't wait to receive my tune!! I was curious as to whether or not it matters where we're located and what kind of gas quality we have, because I only have 91 available. I didn't wanna email you guys about this because I already sent 2 emails out (my dumbass forgot to mention changed plugs first time around)

Update: I already tried out the map by now as I mentioned in the pms, it felt good but I didn't get to hoon as much as I wanted because we had to get home which was really close from the station.. I was also wondering how the 2 different fuels mix together correctly and whatnot, dumb question I know but I'm just curious what's going on

With 4 gallons of E85 it will be enough to prevent knock even with 91 octane fuel.

The 2 fuels mix homogeneously unless enough water is absorbed by the alcohol which causes them to separate. This also happens at low temperatures.

So as long as your mixture is not very high (stick to 4 gallons per full tank) and you use the car often and don't let it sit for long period of time, it should be fine.

I ordered mine last night and woke up to my email. Man these guys are fast. I am so excited to see what this S-OTS+E85 will do for my car.

Received my E-85 tune a couple weeks ago, and I am very impressed with the power. Even more than the peak power, it's how it extends the torque curve. Significantly more power, especially between 4k-5.5k. But power increase all the way to redline. This makes shifting a little closer to redline more enjoyable instead of feeling like it's falling flat on its face. Then, once you shift it's still in a thick part of the torque curve, instead of power gap. Honestly after getting a upgraded intercooler and a full tune, not sure if I would even go BT for what I use it for, as a DD and summer time autoX.

We keep idle targets the same in all the maps unless specifically requested otherwise.

I'm currently seeing ~850 at idle. It should be ~700 right? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

We set our tunes to 850 RPM for smoothness and prevent any smoking issues from the turbo.
jtday likes this.
