well...the bug has finally hit me. ive decided to build my spare long block and go full out with a PTE 5858 build. i have lots pictures to upload. i will be doing that tomorrow at some point.


for starters. ive been on a 3071 for about a year and a half. no issues...just want more. that thread can be viewed here. Currently 56k on the clock and 190psi across the board. car has been a trooper on my 3071.
865ms3's GT3071R


Ive been sitting on a block for a couple years and picked up some molnar rods a year or two ago for a good price.after talking with @phate; about these...i finally felt comfortable to throw them in. follow up that by a good deal on an exhaust manifold and a local doing a build...pushed me over the edge.

want to go ahead and thank the people that have helped me with all my dumb and repetitive questions along the way. my NATOR guys. @bcmurphy87; @BigBoostMS3; @Macedawg; . Also, @Justin@Freektune; . dude is always there for me and ALL of nator tn/ky anytime we need anything.


Waiting on a shipment of parts from @EdgeAutosport.com; and @Justin@Freektune; and ill have everything i need. block needs assembled and im shooting for a install the weekend of june 20th.

car is "fully bolted" already so some mods are already taken care of. tr8 intercooler, ACT 6 puck, etc etc.


Engine:
Manley pistons
molnar rods
L19 Head studs
balanced rotating assembly
clevite main and rod bearings
oem main studs
stock valvetrain
some minor bowl work, 5 angle valve job
pretty basic stuff
valves have already been set and all buckets spec out thanks to help from @BigBoostMS3;

Parts:
John russell t3 stock location tubular exhaust manifold
PTE JB 5858 T3/Vband .82 A/R
PTE 46mm EWG
FJ Performance Vband downpipe
Kozmic dump tube (hope it fits)
Kozmic oil feed line
HTP under route intercooler piping
JMF V1 Intake Manifold
Corksport injector seals
Freektune Wideband Failsafe
Aem oil pressure gauge
Damond oil pressure switch kit
JBR BSD plug and oil pan baffle
(im sure im missing a lot will update)


Fuel:
devils own progressive meth (pre throttle body)
cm14 nozzle. more if needed
edit: running a cm14+d07 nozzle now
again, using Freektune AFR failsafe

Goals:
Hope to have a car thats still fun to drive and does not loose too much spool to the 3071. i do a lot of trips to the dragon and dont want to kill that setup. i want to do a standard 93 tune, 93+Meth street tune to what i feel is "street-able", then go all out on the dyno tune. of course using @Justin@Freektune; again.

will also be buying a daily driver lol. looking for a 4 runner currently.


once again. ill be update this post. just wanted to get going on it.

Added pics of a weak mock up attempt before a local's swap. didnt have a vband clamp for the DP so it was really a lost cause.

Nice set up, nothing over exotic as Freek has proven, it isn't needed to go fast and stay together.

not out to break records. id like to hit 500ish easily. i know this setup can do ~6....so we will see what happens. honestly im fine with my car right now making 400/388 so anything above that is a plus.

@bcmurphy87; has been beating on his jb 5862 @40 psi for months. Still going strong.

If there is an issue I'll upgrade. Pat's could have been a fluke...or common occurrence. Hopefully just a fluke.

Just out of curiosity, what made you go with a JB over a BB? Obviously the BB costs more but I think I'd appreciate the reliability of ball bearings.

Failures can happen with anything. I've seen a jb precision at 40 psi for about 6 months with no issues. Decided to save some money.

Using -10 braided line from fill to the tank. I'm going to tap the top of the tank with a 5/8 barb fitting.

Going to make a bracket for pump and tank...as well as two occs. I MAY have enough room lol.

Good plan. What I would do instead of using the intake manifold is use the intake for the PCV plate. -12an, catch-can, intake. No worries.

I'm a venturi guy. Feed it to the exhaust. No use having that nasty blowby going back into the intake anywhere. Best to have it go out the exhaust where no fucks are given how nasty it is.

A catch can is actually just a bandaid to a design OEM's had to improvise due to emissions.

Venturi is the far superior and cheaper setup. If it were not for the EPA and emissions OEM's would also do venturi systems for PCV excavation. If you aren't running any cats venturi is going to be the better route. I plan on doing the same.


Did I also mention a venturi design is cheaper?

^ solves the catch can debate btw. there is no room for another can now. the valve cover breathers are going VTA below the splash shield.

also after giving this some thought today. i may go back to trunk mount, but use a fuel cell. a plastic jug in the front fender will bust in a fender bender. right now im just running 49/51 meth (was already tuned on E just wanted to test meth setup) so not a big deal. but when going 100% may not be the brightest idea.

thinking about picking this up. i like how the pump mounts, etc. im open to suggestions. id like to run an external vent out of the car and the lines will go out of the hatch and under the car.

Got bored tonight. Got the head on and l19s torqued. Oil pump in, jbr oil pan baffle,oil pump,water pump,thermostat housing. Went to do the cams and realized I left my good in lb tq wrench at work. Will finish up tomorrow

off work friday 6/19. got the nator tn/ky A team coming in for reinforcement thrusday night/friday morning. starting to get excited.

still to do....
waiting on my JMF (this wont delay me)
finish mock up when i get dump and oil feed
weld a bung to my downpipe
figure out if i want to cap coolant line to turbo...or replace the hole line to remove the hard pipe
im installing all my gauge's/failsafe setup this weekend along with my new meth setup with the help of @SpeedyTater; id say @BigBoostMS3; will be there too.

im going to order some 90* fittings for the two EBCS setups and the boost switch. plan to mount them on the firewall behind the battery tray...hopefully making it clean.

Remember to throw the axle half shaft on the block to test clearance on that as well! I had to adjust my dump tube once I had it on mine. Thankfully it was on a stand at that point lol.

Yep, in! Alexa is going to be in Georgia with her girlfriends all weekend. I'll just have to check on the dogs, but I'm free otherwise!

Then the weekend of your swap all the wimminz are going on a nator girls weekend, so we should all be set! But again, I'll have to keep any eye on the dogs lol.
