Default Wrecked Gen1 Build

Hey guys my name is Dennis and I have been on this forum for awhile now and its been super helpful. I have been driving my gen1 silver speed3 for around 2 years and have loved it so much. I went from full bolt ons to a Bnr s3 on that car and had a blast building, tuning it, and driving it. I then stocked the whole car out, sold the parts, and kept driving it stock while going to school. I knew I wanted to do it all over again and I got lucky and found a wrecked pearl white gen1 speed with 32,000 miles on it and got it for a good price. I then purchased all the parts from the dealer that I needed. Also my dad owns a body shop so we repaired the car together. Altogether I replaced the front right headlight, fender, and bumper cover. There was only about a days worth of work to get the panels to line up perfectly. Then it was time to paint and put it all together.

This is what the car looked like painted and pretty much just about fixed. I also went ahead and got the grill painted black. I think it looks really nice this way.

I also went ahead and purchased a Hotchkis rear swaybar, Whitelike front and rear endlinks, and also new bushings for the front swaybar. I also have H&R springs and sensen shocks on the way.

Here is the new sitting by the old.

While I was waiting on the struts and springs I started to build a gauge pod. I purchased a glow-shift boost gauge, a gauge pod, and some jb weld. Altogether only cost me like 60$. Took me two tries to get it right and look how I wanted it too.

Got all the suspension parts on and then went to get alignment done, State Patrol, inspected, and a week later got it insured and registered.

The car drives amazing! Did not think it would drive like a whole different car with the suspension mods. I have the rear sway bar set to the soft setting and damn does it corner insane. I'm sure the springs are helping out too. I also put on some visors and colored in the tire letters. This is how the car looks now.

I will try to update this thread when I can. I have some pretty big plans for the car.

Installed a cobb sri, forge bpv, torque solution rmm, damond motorsports ssp, and autotech hpfp internals! I have a catless downpipe that I will be installing very soon. Also I modified the rear emblem and slapped in a Paul Walker sticker on the dash! I also plan on purchasing cnt catback exhaust, cx racing fmi kit, and versatuner and versalink. I cant wait to push this thing!

So a lot has happened over the past few weeks! I installed my cx racing fmic, damondmotorsports full egr delete, damondmotorsports occ with breather, corksport injector seals, jbr intake mani gasket, installed my aem wideband, cnt catback exhuast, and a tial 50mm bov. I also purchased a verasatuner and running a custom 91 octane and e30 maps of my own. I also did a vcts delete on my intake manifold along with a little bit of porting and polishing done myself which I then painted wrinkle black. Then decided to powdercoat my valve cover at my friends house a candy purple color. This was a super fun experience powdercoating and turned out amazing! I did wrap the intercooler piping in a gold heat reflective tape and painted the turbo manifold heat shield wrinkle black too! I did a small wire tuck in the engine bay as well, I plan on making a cleaner engine bay like hiding the intake manifold hoses and little things like that. Dont mind the cobb sri I will be replacing it soon!

And here is my car and my buddy's subi

So my plans for the car now is to get 17x9 rpf1 with some meaty tires. Then hopefully go bnr s4, Htp 3.5 intake, and the rest of the supporting mods. I will be tuning with Rob Finkle from Hyptotic tuning. Also I dont really know how to give a shoutout to Damondmotorsports but his customer service is the best imo! All my parts were shipped super fast! Just amazing!

That gold thermal wrap, use too much more of that, and you'll have yourself a damn space ship. Looks real good.

Sent from my pocket computer that has more raw processing power than the space shuttle. But it took people to space...

I was gonna buy them next year but my front tires are already bald, plus I need more traction and didn't wanna buy tires for the stock wheels because I can only go so wide. So I couldn't resist lol

Finally got the wheels and tires mounted! The specs are rpf1 17x9 +45 with a 5mm on the front and all the wheels are wrapped in Hankook Ventus v12 evo2 245/40/17. I also rolled only the rear inside of the quarter panels pretty much flat. I kinda messed up on the left side but its barely noticeable. This was my first time rolling fenders and I was lucky to not of had any paint crack and it looks pretty good. Couldn't be happier with how she looks, not to mention drives so much better! enjoy the pix!

So past couple weeks I installed my short shifter and shifter bushings. The shifter paired with the damond motorsports ssp feels amazing! Also I installed a wrx sti front lip the other day and adjusted my rsb to the stiffest setting! Car drives absolutely wonderful, cant get enough of it! Also I plan on going to import faceoff in a couple weeks in St. Louis! Here are some pix since I enjoy taking so many!

Nice. Do you have pictures of the damage? I would love to see them.

I also keep looking in Cali/Texas/AZ I'm hoping to find something with rod knock so I don't have to outsource work to a body shop. If not I will look for a wrecked one.

Here's a photo of the car when it was still at the auto action. The damage was very minimal.

The turbo finally decided it was all about that vape life and started making clouds. Lol, so I had to order a new turbo with some other supporting mods. I will be posting photos of the install and whatnot when I get all the parts delivered. Hopefully I'll have a day or two off from work to get everything in. Should have it all in about 2-3weeks.

Rust mainly. I don't drive the speed daily anyway and want to have a clean build.

I think I will need to venture out of Chicago to find a shell anyway. If the price is right I might be willing to pick something up.
