Default The build so far 700+

So maybe some of you remember me, some not. The "drier vent hood dump" Mazdaspeed3 3
(Not actual drier vent, just wrapped) has been a very long time since I have posted on these forums. Just an update on how the car is going.

New mods.

S366 Borgwarner twins scroll turbo
RaceRoots T4 turbo manifold
LSX intake tube
JMF fuel ported intake manifold
SPeedperformanc3 8th port Aux fuel kit
4in 5.9L Cummins downpipe.
Twin disc clutch
All solid steel motor mounts
No methanol
E85 fueling
Fuel surge tank
Dual 300lph fuel pumps
Supra T4 quick spool valve
26x10.5 micky slicks

Not much of pictures yet but as the next few weeks + go on I will keep everyone updated on the site.

I still have to buy raxles and finish some other mild things (like put the motor back in)

Interesting. Curious to see how that quick spool valve will work for you. Also keep an eye on your boost once you get it running, that wastegate placement looks pretty prone to induce creep.

Yea me as well with the quick spool valve, was considering adding another wastegate oppisite side equal length as the other. But really just waiting to see how much boost I'm going Going to be at. At the start as for tuning if I request 10psi and it goes for 15psi then I will probably add a wastegate. Very curious! its a completely different bolt on setup... Cheers!!!!

I'm assuming the quick spool valve should be 600 rpm sooner than non existence. And throwing a ton of fuel at that turbo . Hopefully I don't run out of rpm.

You'll be fine on RPM. My twinscroll S362 leaves me a pretty decent powerband revving out to 7k.

Perfect!! If there was anything I was worried about it was turbo spooling. And being useless. Also who tuned you?? I'm with purpledrank at the moment.

Wow, I'm assuming you've stripped the interior and wear earplugs? Solid motor mounts - I thought I was a real man going to the stiffest duro.

Looks like a lot of fun

quick spool plate will block off one runner and funnel all exhaust through half of the turbine housing until a certain point, then both runners are open to the manifold for top end power. It's not as efficient on the top end as a true twin scroll but should spool even faster.

2nd gen RX7's had them. They don't look fancy, but got the job done. Many people would remove it though for more top end.

Yea it's completely gutted, doors are gutted, plexi windows, solid steel motor mounts aren't as bad as I thought they would be. I ran them on the old setup. It vibrates but not as bad as one would think. Also the frame were the motors mounts bolt to have NOT started cracking (yet). Once it makes some real power the frame might start to crack in those spots, so I'll be welding in steel reinforcements plates in those areas. Haven't worked on it in a week or two will post up some more pics when I'm further in.

UPDATE!

Ok just got time to work on the car and have been doing a lot of thinking, so the plan basically stands the same. Only some minor changes. Originally I planned to use the CPE or JMF manifold, instead today I just ordered Damond Motorsports focus ST Portinjection manifold spacer/adapter to run the focus st intake manifold as well as ordering the ST manifold from Pro-Meth with the direct port methenol infection built into the manifold. So that being said there will be a total of 12 injection points on the manifold and the head including the meth. Sounds cool, probably will be a pain in the ASS. So once this IS all done I will tell every one exactly how it was done and wired.

Air to water intercooler core will be 11x12x4.5 should be PLENTY! Top mount. Will also send pics on the piping setup (3in piping. 1x 120 degree pipe 1x 90 degree pipe 1x 180 degree pipe 1x 3" to 2.75" coupler 1x 3" coupler)

Exhaust will be SLEEPER AS FUCK! I sugguest this to everybody! It will be s366 turbo the 3" adapter-to-3" vibrant tight radius 180 degree-to-OBX cat back exhaust... bahahaha. Will send pics of this as well. I know 3" sounds crazy on a s366 butttt it should actually help the turbo spool by a couple hundred rpm.

Everything being said should be done end of December January time frame 2016-2017

Important notes
-will be running 50% 50/50 meth, 50% Ethanol in meth tank.
-will NOT be running a BOV
-3in intercooler piping
-4" LS2 k&N intake pipe
-4" MAF housing
-Will be using the SnowPerformance stage 2 VC-50 meth kit for direct port meth
-will be using 4x 175ML meth nozzles
-single vband tial wastegate (38mm)

Any questions ask away!!

38mm wastegate for a T4 66mm turbo? I think it's way undersized for the goals and big flow mods will likely have a hard time making big power but hey what do I know. Subbed for results

I would not put the air/water intercooler over the engine like a TMIC...it will heat soak...my air/water intercooler is at the stock airbox position and it heat soak in heavy traffic...anything standing in the engine bay will heat soak eventually, but over the negine is the worst place IMO (I plan on insulating my intercooler next summer)

I would suggest the Aquamist HFS-4 for the meth injection system...this is the best system out there

Wastegate sizing is determined by engine size and desired boost. A larger engine needs larger gates because more displacement equals more exhaust gas. Running less boost also requires larger gates. Less boost means more exhaust gas has to bypass the turbine via the wastegate. Thus, large engines running low boost (most V8s) need large valves and small engines running high boost can get away with smaller valves. As long as he doesn't try to run low boost he should be fine.

He miiight run into part throttle creep but overall not much to worry about. I was able to run 9 psi on my S362 (same size as 6266) with two 38mm gates which is about equal to a 60mm gate. Running a larger A/R turbine housing helps a tad too.

Default Updates!!!!

OOOKKKKKK sooo far the original plan has changed. The car is finally finished! started tuning today with PurpleDrank (for like the 4th time, lol). No longer shooting for that 700+ hp rating, just could not justify running aux fuel the way I wanted to (8th port) especially since it seems that speedperf6rmanc3 discontinued their 8th port kit. Would have been around $3800 my way.
I went a more practical route with direct port meth injection.

-100% meth
-4x 225 ml/mn meth nozzles
-stage 2 VC-50 Controller
-DamondMotorsports manifold adapter
-Focus ST intake manifold
-3in intercooler pipe
-3in air to water intercooler
-4in intake pipe and Maf housing
-23in circumference wheels

I took the first two logs today with a fairly base tune.
21.9 psi
400+ grams Per sec
Start injection 10psi max injection 20psi

ill post some logs in a bit
Car is completely gutted all the way down to the steering lock. Not even window regulators, I mean everything... plugged in the data to virtual dyno.
-22.97 wheels
-2800lbs (not sure but its lower than I think it is)
-90 degrees
-4th gear

with VVT - 482hp
without VVT- 447hp

Not sure if I believe that until it's on a real dyno. Now that the car is completely finished I will keep everyone updated with (actual) Weight, HP, TQ, Logs, 1/4 ets, Trying to go for "The Fastest NON-AUX FUEL mazdaspeed3" although that is probably going to be hard to beat...

Anything is possible with enough meth. Read that however you want.

He was running the same turbo as you but with a better compressor wheel. Should still be pretty attainable on your setup. You're only at 22psi, that turbo is still asleep. You will need to get a 4 bar map sensor though.
AwAfrican likes this.

Well if you're looking to get down the 1320 quickly you're gonna want to get off those tiny 23" tires. Should be able to fit 26" on stock fenders, I think you'll have to cut them a bit to fit 28"

That will make a world of difference on our short ass gears.
