For everyone wondering, Edge did a great job on this kit. I priced the equivalent Stage 3 out initially part for part from Jim Ellis Mazda Parts online which usually has decent pricing. It wasn't to double check Edge, it was more of a sanity check for me that it has all of the parts I need.

Edge's Stage 3 kit with VVT comes in at least $200 cheaper than individual pricing and I know they have a running MSF discount code, so the are even better than that.
@EdgeAutosport.com;, can you confirm that you provide the latest VVT actuator as the VVT option (L3K9124X0C9U)?

Great job adding the cap/head bolt options.

Honestly, some good pistons & rods and this stage 3 kit with bolts + good machine work = well built motor for <3k. An entire engine build only takes 1 simple order with 3 items through Edge!

We do offer the latest VVT actuator with our kits. Its the only one available as it superseded the original.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that we made some updates to this.

All motor build kits now come with the OEM Oil Pickup as this is likely more important to replace than the oil pump. We also added the option to add the massive speed timing tools to the motor build kits and the VVT Kit. And the VVT Kit now comes with the cam bolt as well.

We keep all of this stuff in stock so most of the time you will only have to wait for the 3 to 4 business days it takes to ship (unless you choose a faster option)

Make sure you read the descriptions before purchasing so you know exactly what you are getting! Everything in these kits is either necessary or highly recommended for when you are building a motor!

Great job on the kits, I am currently using the stage 3 to rebuild my motor and it has everything you might need and more.

Let me suggest that for these kits you add one camshaft friction washer part number L3K9-12-429. The reason I say this is that regardless if you replace the VVT actuator or not, you have to loosen the exhaust camshaft sprocket when you are timing your engine. For peace of mind is recommended to replace this one after it is used. Thanks guys.

Beat me to it about the cam friction washers. Buying the stage 2 kit from Edge saved me hundreds of dollars to what i would of paid getting it off Mazda here in Aus

Stage 2 kit is a must IMO. Re-Used my VVT system on the new motor because it was replaced only 10k Miles prior to the build and presented no problems. Just replaced the friction washers and Crank bolt. Till I started getting some crazy timing codes. (One rare one that people have been chasing (P0012). After endless amounts of trouble shooting with no grounds gained. I ended up replacing everything in the VVT including the actuator <--Probably didn't have to do that it was a "Rev C", but I did.

My speculation came down to the Tensioner being reused. Had just a cunt hair of less tension on it causing an over retard on the intake camshaft.

Yeah its one of those things where its just insurance against a more costly fix later on down the road...

So one of these kits + rods + pistons and it should be everything needed for a fresh motor rebuild? correct?

How do you know which size bearings to order?
