Default MZR DISI Remanufactured Long Blocks now Available at EdgeAutosport

Well since we all drive Mazdaspeeds here, we are all familiar with the term "Zoom Zoom Boom". Proper tuning, modding, and driving can save you but it can still happen to anyone. Some will use it as an excuse to go built motor, but some don't need a built motor and just want to stay stock. That is where this comes in.

This engine is 100% remanufactured using factory OEM parts and is machined and built according to factory specifications to ensure a long lasting, high quality replacement engine. All seals and gaskets get replaced with brand new hardware and the long block is fully assembled, ready to be put into your vehicle and start up quickly. There is no need to get any extra machine work or assembly with this long block.

This remanufactured long block comes with a 3-year, unlimited mileage warranty against engine defects. Each engine goes through a 9 step process to make sure you are getting the quality and performance that would come with a brand new engine.

The nine steps include the following:

Engine Identification
Proper Disassembly
Thorough Cleaning
Initial Testing
Machining
Secondary Testing
Full Assembly
Final Testing
Delivery

Upon receiving your engine, you will be provided with a shipping label that you can send your old engine back with and inside the same crate the new motor came in. The shipping of the new engine is free as well as the shipping of the old engine in return. Just schedule your pickup with us and you're good to go.

The price of the MZR DISI Remanufactured Long Block for MS3/MS6 2006-2013 is $3940.00 shipped to the continental US. There is a core charge of $460 that is included in the price of the engine. Upon a successful return of your engine core in it's crate, you will be reimbursed $460. If you choose not to return an engine, this core charge will not be refunded and you don't have to worry about any returns.

Click on any of the pictures to be redirected to our site for purchase.

@EdgeAutosport.com; Can you get a deal on these?

2006 Mazda 6 cylinder heads 2FGFR

I pull the head off this weekend to determine the extent of the damage and if it is just in the valvetrain I will be in the market. Otherwise I will be facing the @Ingle;

Oh well, forced me to become built with the excuse "There are no other cheap/reliable options." The wife believed me

Can you tell us a little about the rebuilder you partnered with, i.e. their specialty, time in business, reputation, etc.? Also, can you talk more about Machining, Secondary Testing, Full Assembly, Final Testing stages? What do they machine? Does the owner get the test sheet with compression/leak down info? Does it ship with a valve cover and oil pan?

I'm not in the market, and $3,500 for a full rebuild shipped (- core) from a reputable shop seems reasonable. The more info for this crowd, the better.

We get them from HERE.

They are remanufactured engines so they have necessary machine work done such as honing and possible over-boring if necessary. Brand new Mazda OEM parts are used for the rebuilds (pistons/bearings/head bolts/main bolts etc).

As for testing, clearances are tested then machining occurs to bring things back into spec. It is then tested again to make sure all the parts are good. The motor is then assembled and checked that timing and all clearances are good. Final testing includes compression results as well as a test to make sure it builds adequate oil pressure.

Here is what it comes with.

Arrives in Crate that you can also use to ship your long block back as a core.

It also comes with the gaskets and stuff listed here.

And the test results as well.

For mine in particular, the only thing I have to get that it didn't come with is an oil pickup tube. Due to the nature of the failure of my engine, I don't trust the one thats currently on it.

This motor does not come with a valve cover or oil pan, but there is an option to get those with it for a few hundred more.

Also, something I forgot to mention originally, I was able to purchase a $50 extra warranty that includes a no fault clause for this motor. In other words if this motor pops on me within 3 years, they don't ask questions and just send me a new motor.

@EdgeAutosport.com;

The "Fuel Injector O-ring"s listed there, were those new DISI injector seals or just the rubber O-ring for the fuel line connector side of the injector? Probably extremely wishful thinking on my part.

Thanks!

They are the smurf o-rings to go on the top of the injector and into the fuel rail.

Just the blue o-ring that goes on top of the injector. Not the Injector seals.

BSD delete will possibly void the warranty. And is Mazda OEM parts for everything.

Since I'm putting this Long Block in my personal car, I figured I would start a thread to document it. If anyone is interested, you can follow that here.

Project Six Flip

So far, the bad engine has been removed and now I need to swap all the accessories over to the new engine.

Update on this. I finally got to check and it looks like the pistons used in this engine are the gen 1 style pistons. That being said, I did order it for a 2006 speed 6 and since they use OEM parts, that may be why. I don't know though if you were to order one for a Gen 2 speed 3 if it would come with the updated pistons...

This is how everything is sitting right now. Had to clean up the Oil Pan real good and now that the sludge is out I have to make sure and get all the little chunks of rod bearing out.

@EdgeAutosport.com; so they just use the Oem mazdaspeed rods too. I figured you could at least get stronger rods than Oem? That would be a great selling point you could run by them.

I agree completely, maybe just have it as an option where it would just be a difference in price between the 2. Although going by your website, and correct me if I'm wrong on this, but a set of Manley H beams are $360, where a single Oem rod is $136, so wouldn't it actually be cheaper using the aftermarket stronger rods? Now I do realize the rebuilder gets the parts at a fairly well discounted price then what we the consumer would pay, but I would think with the price difference it would almost break even.

I read that if you want to use aftermarket rods with OEM pistons, the rods have to be machined to fit. Or vice versa. That will add cost, and they may not be able to warranty the engine. @Tokay444;

Edge carries Eagle and Carrillo rods that will work with OE pistons (22.5 mm wrist pin). I think that Molnar does as well.

It's not the wrist pin that needs to be modified to fit oe pistons.
Manley has rods with 22.5mm pins as well. It's the small end that need to be tapered to fit the piston.

I would have sworn that at one point @Dano; ran Carrillos and Gen Pu pistons without machining. His Trail of Fail™ is too long to page through on my phone, through.

Edit:

The first post in "Dano's build part duex" has the outline of the build. No mention of machining early on, although the thread runs to 57 pages on Forum Runner. It could still be buried in there.

Yes you can order the Carrillos with the OE taper, Edge did not have them in stock but drop shipped them from Carrillo...they are the only rods you can do that with AFAIK.

Unfortunately there will be not semi built motor options with these engines. They are just remanufactured to OEM spec and the company that does it doesn't have any interest in doing custom builds. If you need a built block, I suggest a cp-e shortblock or Freekbuilt engine.

And like Dano said, the carrillos are the only ones that fit with stock pistons and those are quite a bit more expensive than OEM.
