I received mine today. Quick question; what P2W clearance is everyone running with these? Manley recommends .0035" but I've seen people mention .0028" in other threads in regards to other Pistons.

Do not go below the minimum recommendation, it's there for a reason. You go any less you risk running piston and cyl wall scoring from the gap being too tight. P2W is generally chosen based on power goals and boost levels, but 99% of forged Piston minimum p2w is .0035

I'm quite sure every person here will give you different instructions on how to break in an engine.
I am following the instructions from Freek.
Worked my way up to spring pressure/maxing out the stock injectors after 500 miles.

Hopefully I will get my meth running again, do a compression check, and start turning up the boost soon.

Any update with oil squirter clearance issues with these? I am about to click purchase on @EdgeAutosport.com;

Was going to go with the Wiseco's but was unsure if their clearance issues have been resolved. Also like the Gen2 design of these better

Mine should be here tomorrow and hopefully going in this weekend. Just have to hone the cylinders, clean it out, and reassembling starts.

I think these bad boys will eventually become the fav for builders and buildees alike. On every other platform that has had these pistons for a long while now, these are the elite. They cost way less than CP-E's and they're def going into my car when I can afford to build.

Engine builder that has hold of mine is concerned the top ring land on Manleys has no gas pockets compared to CPE ones he has used previously.

Little update on my Manley pistons.
Engine has ~1500 miles and is currently @24psi with a D12 meth. ~400HP

Compression check is 190 +/-1psi
Can't wait to get this turbo actually spinning.

With 4032 you can run tighter PWC clearance as it doesn't expand as much. This would last much longer, especially in a street driven car.

Realistically 2618 should only be used in legit race engines that have frequent overhaul intervals. But that's all we have. So it's what we use.

What I really like about these manley Pistons is the longer skirts they use which is very similar to the length of an Oem piston. And then the top ring thickness is much thicker than what wiseco offers.

Would you mind sharing your thoughts on PWC and ring gap with these Pistons? I know you have installed a few sets. I'm just curious as to what the more knowledgeable are running spec wise with these.

So given that we are using what you consider to be a product that should really only be used in an engine with regular overhaul intervals, what is your thoughts about the realistic longevity of these in a Daily Driver car.

Always use their recommendations as a guidleline and adjust each spec per customers engine use/goals.. Each engine is built to spec, so there is no one size fits all.

I have guys that have 40k+ miles on their engines, and as lex mentioned, short of louder piston slap, haven't had any ill effects. But things that do occur is more blowby and oil consumption. The key with keeping her healthy starts with a proper break in, maintenance, and definitely a good PCV system. I like big ports to let that CC vapor escape whether 10an fittings to a vented can, or breather cap.

I think Manley really hit it on the head by using the thicker top ring as opposed to the other pistons that are available right now. Each motor that I have used them in, is running, and all were pulling crazy manifold vacuum within just as few miles. I gave one of the engines a little boost (1-2psi) about 5 miles into my road test and that thing just wanted to pull. Made me all giddy inside. lol

This all depends on how tolerant you are to blow by and piston slap . I don't see 60k miles as a problem and probably more. They won't break, they will just have more blowby, consume more oil and may become noisier.

Manley also recommends stacking the ring gap in reverse, with the larger gap on the top ring. This explains the lack of expansion groove.
