Default Gen 2 GTX Bolt-on Turbos are now available for the Speed 3 and 6

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that the Bolt-on Gen 2 GTX Turbos are now available for the Speed 3 and 6. We are adding them to our site now and I'll post the link when its up.

As for pricing, the Gen 2 option will be exactly $0.00 more than the Gen 1. I know that is going to be a little tough for some of you, but it is more than worth to upgrade to the Gen 2 wheel. Please let me take a moment to explain why...

<deep breath>

Basically, you can expect the Gen 2 GTX's to operate more efficiently than the Gen 1. This means less boost to make more power and lower adiabatic heat. When you turn it up, Garrett says you can make up to 20% more power on the GTX Gen 2 than you can the GTX Gen 1.

According to Garrett, this is all accomplished with better aerodynamics. These turbos will also feature a speed sensor port so you can keep an eye on your turbos ridiculously high revs/min.

First pic is of the Gen 2 Compressor map, and it is followed by the Gen 1 compressor map. Both of these are of the 3076 variety.

This should make for an extremely efficient/fun Turbo series, especially in the smaller varieties which can now out power their old counter parts without losing any spool time in the process...

Another cool feature that some of you top mount turbo dreamers will appreciate is that the Gen 2 GTX turbos are available in a reverse configuration meaning that you don't have to do any weird bends or have any valve cover clearance issues when you try to do a top mount turbo setup with these turbos.

ATP Bolt-on GTX2860R Gen 2 Turbo Kit - $1749

ATP Bolt-on GTX2867R Gen 2 Turbo Kit - $1749

ATP Bolt-on GTX3071R Gen 2 Turbo Kit
- $1849

ATP Bolt-on GTX3076R Gen 2 Turbo Kit - $1849

ATP Bolt-on GTX3576R Gen 2 Turbo Kit - $2349

Well, I'm not sure that they have it in literature anywhere. We work pretty closely with Revvolution and they tested the Gen 1 against the Gen 2 GTX on a built BRZ a few months ago. We actually got that info from Revvolution when he was dealing with them pre test. That car made 563 on the gen 1 then lifted a head on the gen 2 somewhere over 600 and is currently waiting on a motor to continue the test.

So I guess I should amend that to "word on the street" since we haven't heard it directly from Garrett.

Will you add the price for uggradding from a GT/GTX gen1 to gen2 (No hotside)?

20% more for 0$ is only good for peoples looking to order one without already running an old model.

Can you gives more infos about the test of Revvolution or a link to them. I'm curious to see what was done beside swapping turbo. (Sometimes a bunch of add-ons count for the upgrade power too)

They do say it on the front page of their website. Nothing technical though.

We'll be getting the pricing up on our site next week so I'll link those at that time.

For the BRZ, this is the link to their blog on it.

Revv BRZ

There isn't anything on it yet about the Gen 2 vs Gen 1 because of the head lift after they started turning it up with the Gen 2. All that was changed between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 turbos was injectors. They were near the top of what the injectors could do on the Gen 1 and would run out of fuel on the Gen 2 so they preemptively upgraded.

I'm i right to say there seem to be a +/-5lbs/min upgrade for a pressure ratio of 2-2.8 where we could potentially be with that turbo on a flowing 2.3.? (+/-50hp potential)

Not that straight forward. Look at the efficiency, old wheel actually looks more efficient in that range. So it may be that new wheel can push more air, but it will be hotter. So power gain may depend on the flow restrictions in your system and cooling ability. But yes, that's likely why they're saying it can make more power.

IMO, it's clearly not worth "upgrading" to this over the old one if you want more power, but it does seem like it may produce a wider power band because of the low end, which I always like.

Going from a gen1 to gen2 or to unobtanium compressor wheels won't do shit if you keep that altar boy choking throat on the ATP turbine side.

This is definitely true for the bigger turbos... GTX3076 and up probably...

But it will still be pretty beneficial for the smaller ones like the quicker spooling GTX28's which now have a power bump and still retain the quick spool.

Edge,

It looks like ATP has altered the construction of the coolant line they provide (as seen here).

I especially like how they seem to be using higher quality silicone hose for the EGR connection. Compare and contrast to the gen1 coolant line as see here:

Can you show us how this redesigned coolant line fits on the turbo? (Orientation, etc.) I was not a huge fan of how ATP jerry-rigged the coolant line on the gen1 GTX turbos.

Just 1 year after gtx gen2 release, Garrett release another new improved turbo, the G series

Will you have Mazdaspeed kits for them ?
IT seem to have a 54mm turbine like a GT28 can the ATP GT28 hotside fit those new design ?

i read a reviews and my understanding (I may be wrong) The GTX gen1 and 2 was more about the compressor wheel than turbine wheel
and now, that revision upgraded both.....?

Holey shet that compressor map...!
That turbo is efficient past 65% almost everywhere! Even though the 25-660 wheel sizes match a 3067 it pushes more air than a 3071 gen2.

i would say more between 2567-2867 because 30 exaust is 60mm and this one is just 54mm with a 67mm compressor....

If we just look at flow potential we are close to be able to compare these:

Model............GT3582r = GTX3076r (Gen1) = GTX3071r (GenII) = G25-660 (G2567r)
Turbine size....68mm T. .....60mm T. ................60mm T. ...................54mm T
Comp. size.....82mm C. .....76mm C. ................71mm C. ...................67mm C
Rated hp.......400-675hp...360-640hp ..............340-650hp.................350-660hp
Release time......old.............200X.................Fal l.. 2016.....................Fall 2017

[MENTION @EdgeAutosport.com
I just wanted to let you know that when you filter parts by car (in my case 2007 MSP6) these new Gen 2 turbos do not show up. You have to search by MSP3 in order for them to appear.

Just thought I'd let you know.
