Default Clutch Reccomendation

Hey I was browsing the clutches on your site and really don't know which is best for my application and use. Reaching out before I hit the "buy" button.

My car is a daily driven wtih medium turbo gtx2867. Looking for somethign that will hold the abuse but not feel like I'm doing leg presses to change gears. Something good for a daily driven car.

For daily driven comfort on a medium turbo like that, I would go with a stage 2+ clutch kit from spec.

You will need to get a flywheel because this one won't fit with the stock flywheel. You could also do a Stage 3 plus self ratcheting clutch and keep your flywheel. These are the most leg friendly clutch kits...

Which would be the best option for a future build? Let's say maximum 500whp or so? Still retain driveability. Only want to replace the clutch once.

Like others have said, the OEM clutch is not a bad option but if you are looking for high power/tq, you will probably want aftermarket. If your future goals are that high, I would go with a stage 3 + Spec. The stronger the clutch the less daily drive ability. Wear on a clutch is hard to specify because the driver has a lot to do with determing how long a clutch will last.

Edge and other folks, correct me if i'm wrong, but once you upgrade the clutch, the higher clamping force=the faster the clutch breaks down. So it theareticly won't last as long as the stock clutch.

Also, I'm pretty sure that clutches rely more on Tq numbers and not so much the HP numbers.

You really need to take into consideration what your future goals are if you have them since you're about to replace your clutch. My recommendation is get something that will support your "future" power goals if you have some, as well as not getting a clutch that will just "barely" cover your goals that's how clutches wear out extremely fast. Overkill is extremely underrated when building a car and especially with clutches. IMO get something that's rated for more power then your long term goals will be and you will have no worries whatsoever. Hope this helps in some way. @EdgeAutosport.com; I'm sure can help you with your decision

I was thinking about the luk oem replacement with fidanza flywheel combo. Stock clutch is slipping at wot since my etune and mods are in sig. You guys think it's a good combo? I want something to last longer! Can't believe clutch is going at 30k guess it happens when you mod and drive it hard.

I would personally consider another OEM clutch. I've been at 350awtq for about 25k miles and the clutch has close to 60k miles. Still holding just fine.

I replaced the clutch recently. The OEM clutch hold like a champ until it gave up and started slipping lightly at WOT.
I went for a new OEM LUK flywheel and the Spec Stage2+ self-ratcheting clutch kit (SZ033H) which I also purchased from Edge sometime last year (I don't remember). This one bites pretty hard and now the car is a bit more difficult to drive slow in bumper to bumper traffic, but it gets better every day. The pedal feel is similar to stock, if I didn't drive the car the same day with both clutches installed I would not have been able to tell the difference.

Clutch may be slipping, need some advice

New OEM Luk flywheel? Was the original one bad? Those things hold a lot of abuse and a new OEM flywheel is mucho dorrah. I would use a fidanza one if the OEM goes bad.

The original FW was not bad at all, but it was resting on the travel limiters. And I didn't want a single mass FW.

Spec stage 3 it is. Or is the act 6 pucks a better choice? I like the fact the ACT's replace the flywheel.

personall experiance, so far, i love my 6 puck with street lite FW. Its stiffer than stock, but not horrible to daily drive. and iirc, they are rated for 470 wtq.

How about the CPE Stg1? Organic sprung disc is what you want for daily driveability.

CP-E MZR 2.3 DISI Stage1 Clutch Kit MS3/MS6 2006-2013

I haven't seen any reviews of this clutch however.

Personal experience, I would recommend the same thing as what @EdgeAutosport.com; recommended. I have the spec stage 3+ with the fidanza flywheel and I absolutely love it. I drive the car pretty often and it feels exactly like the factory clutch.

Yes, it's more expensive, but much more friendly. Makes you not hate driving your car.

Did they do the master and slave? Or just slave? Because the Master is on back order so they can only do the slave.

~200 of low throttle city driving with alot of clutch play, then i did a long trip to denver. then started some more spirited driving. I'm just over 400 miles now, and going wot from time to time.

The Stage 3 will probably be more friendly to your leg... But either one will be able to support some pretty goo power.

The pad material is one difference, but the 3 (carbon graphite) is a six pad design and the 3+ (carbon semi metalic) is a solid disc.

So would the 3+ have a better life span?

I've never seen any for the cpe clutchs, but I do know their stage 2 kit is on one of their customer cars making over 450tq. I'll see if I can get anymore info on this for you though!

My act 6 puck with streelight disk is in. Dosn't feel nearly as bad as other people made it out to be. However, on my way home my slave cylinder went out. FYI if you get a stiffer clutch change dat shit.

I had the same problem when I had the street disk... Slave took a shit a few months after install.... Got the revised (orange boot) slave and no problems so far, even after the 6 puck install...

FYI - I don't think there's any clutch and l/w flywheel setup that's less $ than the ACT kit... So if you want a l/w flywheel with your upgraded clutch, stick to the ACT setup.
