Very odd breakdown

I cleaned my air filter yesterday afternoon, let it dry, and reinstalled. Car sat for about 5 hours before driving. Went on a drive, cruising in fourth gear. Was cruising for about 10 minutes. The car started to slow down, and i had no idea what was happening. I tried to give it more gas to see if it would do anything, nothing happened. Downshifted into 2nd and then the car stalled out. Tried to restart it and the engine turned, but no start. Let it sit for 10 minutes, pushed it off the road, successfully started the car and then engine stalled after 5 seconds. Let it sit longer, started and then stalled again. Car is in the shop but no word.... What are the possible things that could be happening here?

damn i didn't even consider it to be my HPFP. I literally just logged my HPFP pressure yesterday and was sitting perfectly around 1700.

Sounds like the filter may be oiled and it coated your MAF. test by unplugging MAF (if it idles ok and starts then its fairly confirmed) and resolve by cleaning MAF and replacing filter with a dry one.

Yeah, oiled filters are no good. Even K&N now makes everyone's Dry-Flow filters.

Clean your maf thoroughly with MAF cleaner ONLY. If you use anything else you will destroy your expensive maf sensor.

Would it do something like this if the turbo inlet tube came off while he was playing with the filter?

I let mine dry for 8 hours and it was still damp. Car drove OK until I went WOT, then had some issues. Might try cleaning the MAF sensor and letting the filter dry some more.

Start it and try to look at MAF voltage and MAF g/s. If it doesn't move at all, then you probably messed up your MAF.

Oh and for some odd reason, after all that my O2 sensor took a shit. No idea why but it had to be related somehow because it happened at the same time.

Okay.... so here it is... the dealer told me that my fuel pump is going out, and i have carbon build it.... and the CDFP and some sensor need to be replaced. They said they could change them out for $400. but I'm broke. i was looking at internals but it's not just internals that i need changed apparently.

A new HPFP and any sensor installed at the dealer should be more than $400. Maybe scam? I agree with above posts, MAF is prolly covered in filter oil. Did you have any CEL's?

yeah i thought so too, OEM fuel pumps run about $350. but the car is running now, a sensor got unplugged somehow (didn't unplug anything) and that was it........ are you kidding me. Fuel pump is fine so idk what they were talking about. I don't trust dealerships around here. But any who... car is running a lot stronger since the carbon blasting
