The inlet is ~2".

The turbo is a borg warner K04, I've got no idea what the trim size is, it's so small I never bothered to find out...

I've got an MS6 not an MS3 so I don't know what the pcm in the MS3 limits boost to.

The TDO4-16g can flow near 34 lbs/min, the K04 is closer to 32 lbs/min, so it's just a little smaller..

im not really shure how boltons effect the turbo, so i want to ask a few more questions if you dont mind. if you get say a cai or sri this shouldnt effect the efficiency range right? the turbo doesnt have to spin faster but is dealing with more air. how does a dp effect it? i just dont understand if our turbo is already too small how do you make gains with airflow enhancing mods.

gains with airflow mods are simple, the air can flow with ease so the turbo can make boost easier and many times faster as well because it doesnt have to suck air in through a small ass intake or push out exhaust through a small catted/blocked DP. it is free flowing so the energy is all focused on spinning the turbo up for powah

Any mods you do to the intake/exhaust will effect the VE of the motor allowing the motor and turbo to flow more CFM for a given pressure ratio and rpm, allowing the turbo to reach boost onset and peak boost earlier.

This increase in VE is why you can still see significant gains even when your nearing the choke line of the compressor. The turbo isn't necessarily doing more work, the engine/turbo system has just become more efficient..

so its the same as an NA motor then just getting rid of restriction. could you tell me if the turbo runs at the same temp with these mods? or is it possible it runs cooler? so the wastgate will still keep the tubo in its efficency range.

i know i must sound like a complete noob right now but i want to understaind this better. lets say you get the cai, all your doing is suppling the turbo with more air so it can make boost easier, right?

ive read that you dont want to work the turbo harder on these cars as the turbo is too small for the size of the engine. so basicly the turbo spools faster and around 5500-6000 the engine can use more air than the turbo can produce and it becomes a restriction.

if the wastgate is the same and you raise the ve of the engine does that mean you run out of power at a lower rpm?

also what is overboosting?
