playing around with the compressor maps in that, with some rough specs for our engine, there are a few of the common turbo upgrades that people do that look like they fit very well with this engine. as a general, the 70ish mm 50-52 trim turbos seem to fit well. our engine at 6000rpm and 22psi (what i gathered were goals for a few folks going big turbo) plots in the meaty spot on the compressor maps for the gt32, gt35(71mm, 52 trim, 50 a/r), and gt3071r. if you wanted to bring the boost down to a reasonable 18psi, the gt2871r and a few of the t4 variants could come into play.

keep in mind though that this is only one point on the rev band so you'd need to look at where your expected boost and flow plots on the compressor map for several different rpms, not just where you want to rev to, unless you just want a dyno queen. for example, the t04e-60 would be in its higher efficiency range at 6500 rpm and 18psi, but if you expected 15 psi at 4000 rpm, you'd be to the left of the surge line on the compressor map, which means that you could only make 12-13psi of boost at 4000 rpm.

pretty cool to plug in the numbers and see what effects bumping up the boost or revving higher does to the efficiency of the turbo though.

It doesn't tell you anything you couldn't figure out with a little math and the formulas provided on garrett's site.--the rest is just speculation as we don't know the IC efficiency or our engines VE, or the BSFC..

From a numbers standpoint the gt28/3071/3076/3582 are all farily well matched to this motor provided you run appropriate boost levels, and get the ported compressor housing for the gt35. The only complication would be the 3071 and 3076 outspooling the HPFP, the gt28 won't be moving enough air at that point to cause issues, and the gt35 spools late enough you don't have to worry....

IMHO if your going to upgrade decide on mild or wild--gt28r or the gt3582r, the 3071 spool's right in the weakspot of the HPFP, and I've been told by many differnt people that the 3076 has almost all the lag of the 3582 with none of the benifts of the 35's larger compressor...
