Default Stripped Oil Filter Cap Bolt

So, I am a dumb and last oil change I stripped the bolt for the plastic oil filter cap. (Image relevant to bolt)

I'm pretty sure I can get it back off, but I need a replacement and can't find it online anywhere. I'd prefer not to order directly through a dealership if I can save some money online. I found them once right after it happened, but didn't have the cash to order it.

If anyone knows where I can get the bolt or the whole assembly I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

N/A from them. You may have to order the whole thing listed as 14-300 here to get it, because it's not listed separately on JimEllis Mazda's website:

Just do the spin on filter conversion and start using traditional oil filters before that plastic piece of shit cracks and your engine goes bye bye.

Probably be cheaper than buying stock parts to fix it.

I'd considered this. I may hold out until my tax return comes in and order one of these. I wanted to add an oil pressure and temp gauge later anyways. Seems to be the best way to go about it. Major concern is that my oil is due for a change. Filter can probably hold off a tiny bit longer I suppose, but it'd be better to do it sooner than later.

I did the spin on conversion so I have an extra complete cartridge housing that I was going to throw out

I have 106k miles on my car and am still using the cartridge type. I've never unscrewed that piece.

Yea, just unscrew main filter housing and tip it to a side to spill extra oil out. That screw is just to make it easier to drain and not make a mess!

I'd say go with a spin-on filter conversion like stated above and make it more convenient for oil changes to come

just consider how much cost a new engine and put the spin on mod in your wish list...this way you can save the waste of money from an electric oil pressure gauge to check if your oil cap is broken...

And few of these gauges have tendency to fail before the pump so....if you go this route make sure to buy a good one or a mecanical one with good and safe fitting ...

I just had the problem of the stripped out drainage bolt. The above comments are correct. It does not attache the filter housing, it merely acts as a drain for the filter housing.

Try channel lock/slip joint/tongue and groove pliers to spin off the plastic filter housing. Be gentle and it works fine.

Finally... It's been almost 4 years, but this advice might be the one that actually works.
