(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I like how it shifts quite a bit actually, although I may end up taking off the extension (or keeping it) once I get the Damond Motorsports short shift plate and rmm in over the next few days. EDIT: How do I get the pictures to not be sideways? (new to forums, sorry)

| Not Ranked : 0 score With a longer lever and a SSP you will put a lot more strain on the shifter cables. You should have gotten a short shifter instead if all you wanted was more feel.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Well, I made the decision based off of peoples thoughts on the Damond ssp release thread. Didn’t know it put more strain, thanks for the heads up though. Although at this point I guess I wil just have to see how it turns out with the ssp lol.

| Not Ranked : 0 score from what i undersrand, DM doesn't cause as much concern with wearing the cables because of its design. where something like the JBR plate raises the connection point and puts the cables at an angle, DM is much closer to stock height and angle.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The SSP alone will put more strain on the cables. If in case of the JBR unit the angle is also changed then it's even worse... The idea that with a short shift plate the arm of the force transmitted by the shifter cables is shortened, so you need more force on the shorter arm to apply the same resulting force on the gearbox shifter seeker and selector. If you install a short shifter the same thing happens but only between your arm and the end of the lever that pulls/pushes the cables, so the cables will actually receive the same force and it's only your hand that will have to make a larger effort. Usually this is not a concern, but sometimes the cables are kinked even more because of the internal wastegates of larger turbos, and for street driven cars I think nobody would like to hear that snap of the shifter cables in the middle of an intersection at rush hour on a two way street with 4+ lanes each way. Broken shifter cables is not something unseen on these cars, so moving more towards snapping them may not be the best idea.

| Not Ranked : 0 score i mean, i ran a CS ssp for a few years and haven't had any issues. i did switch to a proper short shifter this summer, though. i don't know how often problems truly arise from using ssp vs. people just theorizing about the possibility of it.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I see what you're saying, although I think the other guys are referring to the higher probability of the cables snapping with the 4" extension, and not just the knob.

I guess you will just have to be more careful in those situations under mechanical stress (hard braking, cornering) when you will change gears. Those cables are quite thick but over time they just wear. Also, if you have the factory shifter assembly there's a chance you will bend it. A lot of people bent it with no extension. I guess it all comes down to how you drive in the end. But with these mods the shifter cables snap is what I'd fear most.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Having driven a friend's ms3 with CS ssp to just installing my Damond ssp in my ms3, I can say that the Damond 'feels' better and not so 'bound' up. Although, the Damond is not as reduced as the CS. Eventually I plan to go the JBR short shifter and ditch the plate all together. One thing I will note is that same buddy of mine with the CS ssp just had his shifter cable bushing fall to pieces on the freeway. He went back to no ssp for meow and just 'glued' up his plastic bushing pieces. Fuckin' shitty but it still works! Oh and not a fan of your shifter setup. Looks gross. Also, I have decided to run no extender as it just makes the shifter too wobbly for my liking. I think it looks better, although I certainly still enjoy without it as well. As they say, function over form!
