Do you know how much more the upgraded turbo will be able to flow than the stocker? cfm wise? or even power wise? I know the cfm's may be somewhat difficult to test.
What do you think the new turbo will be able to get us up to, to the wheels?

Thanks,
Charles

Flow charts are getting done right now on the compressor wheels. We are running them up to 30 psi in 2 psi increments. I will post the end results when I get them.

I have talked with the turbo builder and we are looking at 50 to 75 WHP gains if we can use the compressor wheel that we like (we are going to use this one). Just like the SST we did with the SRT4 Neon that picked up over 100 WHP on a few cars, that just might be possible for the MS3 as well. Only time will tell but we should know soon enough.

Ship your turbo to me and you can be a test car? I want to have them ready in the next 4 weeks for production the only real problem is going to be cores, there are not a lot of them laying around right now and the stockers from the dealer are over $700 if you can get someone to give you a deal on them. I am not going to buy new turbo to get used units in return... or maybe I will have to?

50 WHP should be easy with the MS3 as well.

Now imagine the turbine housing all reworked and a tubular manifold??? Now were talking "POWER"!

Once you get this mod down to a science, what kind of turnaround are you thinking? I really can't afford more than 2 weeks downtime on my MS3, so if I 2 day it, what do you think?

I plan on having them in stock like I do with the EVO 8's as well as the stock and stage 3 big wheel upgrades for the SRT4 Neon.

I always like to have a few on hand for those people like yourself but right now I can not get any cores. Shit, it looks like I will have to be searching the wrecking yards for these.

There is very little room for a larger wheel. The inlet is very thin to begin with so unless they are using a press fit and machined inlet the gains are going to be very minimal. We should have a 16lb WGA here in the next few weeks. I be sending it with the turbo that 311 gets or before so he can get some dyno testing done.

would you mind explaining why or what you are expecting to accomplish with a higher LB. spring on the stock or modded stock turbo?

You would be correct because going any bigger on the exhaust side would be a waste of money. The port into the turbo scroll is to small to support a bigger exhaust wheel. I highly doubt that many details will be provided but if you can pull the turbo apart and post the inducer and exducer sizes I will post mine to make it a fair compairson.

I have heard of and seen a car in FL running 8 injectors and he is making 445 WHP. He has a set of our prototype traction bars and from what I have been told he is on the stock head and block. There is a ton of meth getting injected into this motor so that might be what is saving it. Not sure but something has to give sooner or later on his set up.

Rule of thumb, you can only go 2 x the spring pressure for most WGA or WG applications. So if you have a 8lb spring you can only run 16lbs of boost. Running anymore will cause spikes and other issues with flutter and what not. By installing a 12 or 16lb WGA you will be able to hold more boost to redline with out having to rely on the boost controller as much. Flutter, surge and many other small turbo issues can be resolved by running more spring pressure on the WGA. Hope this helps.

I have the turbo in my possession and not on the car at this point. If you let me know what I can do to provide measurements for comparison, I'll do it.... assuming that the reassembly isn't anything too complex. I don't want to ruin this freshly built turbo.... lol
Tear down is easy. Just pull the compressor cover off and you should be good to go from there with getting measurments.

That is about what we are going to do but the 24 psi claim is ??? I would have no idea what it can or can not do till I installed one in a car. We will be clipping the exhaust wheels as well but I wonder if they did and VSR testing and flow of the compressor wheel?

The cover has an o-ring on it. Don't worry about it I don't want you to nick the compressor wheel trying to get something for me, I would feel really bad.

The VSR testing shows flow, CFM, surge point, max eff from turbine to compressor and the most important shaft failure point. This is very important if you want a turbo that lasts on the car with out shaft failures.
