I pulled the trigger and bought an insert for my Gen1. Guess what? It fits. Took a rubber mallet, some muscle and foot work in the form of standing on it and pressing.

The instructions even say 2007+, now even though I bought it from the 2010+ link on the CS site.

This side was the tough part.

Here's me pressing it in with my foot. Then I whacked it with the mallet a bit.

Presto!!

Let us know how it works after you put the TMM back in.
When I tried to hack it to fit in I determined that there was a lot more to cut out from it and decided to throw more money on a gen1 TMM + tripod + central bolt.

I will hopefully be installing tonight. CS did tell me that it won't fit in every Gen1 mount. I guess there are some different versions?? But this is what the bottom of mine looks like and how yours should look before you spend the money.

I will post the outcome of the install as soon as it's done.

Correct. It works with some I'm told, but not with all of them. Even with the correct ones that it works with it can be a pain!

Yeah it was a pain with mine. I really thought it wouldn't go. It took some serious force. One side was simple. The other was super tight. I had to use a butter knife to shoe horn the side in and stand on it to press it in. #determination

Which is good, most people would just call and say that the part didn't work and wanted a return.

I just wish there was something comparable to this for the stock PMM

Ok. I got the mount in. Car feels great!! I may go back to a JBR PMM though, vs the stocker PMM. still a bit too much movement for me. But WAY BETTER. THANKS CORKSPORT!!

Thank god I was able to get to it today. The one that was in there is almost ripped completely through. I am not even sure it was the proper one. There was no stock insert. There wasn't even any signs of one ever being in there and deteriorating.

My one issue was the gen1 tripod mount (the part that bolts to the tranny and what the mount bolts to) is too wide to fit into the CS insert. It just gets smashed. Yeah, you can just torque it down and smash it, but I don't suggest that. I trimmed away a bit to creat a slight ramp so that as I torque the center bolt down, the CS insert will spread and slip over and around the tripod top. Pic is below.

Here's the rip.

Here is were I trimmed away a bit to create a slight ramp for the insert to be able to spread out and slip over the tripod mount.

Here is how wide the gen1 tripod top is. The outer portions that are dirty are the parts the won't let the CS insert get around the top of the tripod and the reason for the trimming. The cleaner square portion around the bolt hole is how wide the CS insert opening is.

Been driving her all day. The tranny whine is a bit louder now... Or perhaps it's just back, since the mount that was in there was probably dead from the get go. It's all good though. Sounds pretty cool.

Cool, glad it worked for you also. Careful with the "f/s" stuff, I don't want you banned for posting that here.

I'm still on TMM insert on a gen2 mount retrofitted to a gen1 and frankly I don't intend to change it soon...

Same here. Same set up. Seems to work great. Could the trans be supported a little more? Sure. But for a insert it does its job.

Did you have to support the motor at all? Or no because the tripod didn't have to come off? I have a gen1 and in committed to trying this myself.

Yes, you'll need to support the engine to re install it.

Will the structure of the mount be compromised due to the cutting? Also is it more likely to tear if I follow the steps above like the other guy?
