Right now, @Lex; and I (mostly Lex) are working on a minor issue of the boost going a little higher than commanded. Once that is smoothed out, then comes the e85 revision.

I'm pretty much lex's puppet. He say do this, and without hesitation I do it. Lol

Update time!!!!

So, i'm on my 3rd revision of my E85 mix, and i will post logs this afternoon when i get home.

It seems, talking with @Lex; that i have a bit of an issue. Boost is not getting up to where we want it to be with as high as my WGDC is. The though is ether my DP cat is too restrictive, or there was not enough pre-load on the wastegate from the factory. I have a line on a catless DP, thanks to @RLam;.

Hopefully this aleviates the boost celing that we seem to have hit, and we can really open her up.

As of right now, the car pulls GREAT! my 60-100 is staying in the low 5 second range.

I'll post a VD with the logs this afternoon.

I'll just interrupt the car chat for a second here to say how great Josh has been to work with. We value each and every one of our customers and thank them all for the business.

Ok, so not a HUGE update:

Swapped the down pipe on Sunday, thanks to @RLam;

side note: all cars should come with an "aftermarket" down pipe, because that took no time to swap out.

Lex put me on a "base" map for the new down pipe, as to not cause over boost. Also, i didn't adjust the waste gate pre-load, as i wanted to do one variable at a time. (also, its a bit of a pain in the dick to do, and i was just a little lazy). Boost was holding well on spring pressure, and now we are walking boost back up to see how it does. Once I'm back up to the 22-23 psi area, i'll do a comparison of spool between the catless and catted pipes just for gee-wiz info for all you little big turbo fans out there. Right now i'm on my second revision of the catless tune + E85.

A HUGE thank you to @Lex; for not trying to kill me from Canada for changing up parts like this, this late in the game as far as the tuning is concerned.

Right on man...good to see you making some head way.

I got everything installed on my car, but have an issue with the wastegate being open all the time, so need to trouble shoot that, and it sounds to me like I need to get on Lex's list for a tune...once I get this issue fixed that is.

UPDATE:

So, @Lex; and i have gone through a few revisions on the catless DP. I have attached the latest logs for your viewing pleasure.



Unfortunately, my clutch has begun the process of giving up on life. So, for the time being, i'm calling it as far as tuning until i can round up the funds to purchase/replace the clutch. I will be going with the ACT 6 puck sprung kit, with the streetlite flywheel.

ALSO: the "supercharger" noise that i was talking about, come to find out, it was the turbo leaking!!!! WTF. So i spoke with JP at Edge, and the first (and thankfully last) step was to tighten down the bolts that hold the bracket featured here:



this, luckily, sealed the leak that i had.

A special thanks to @EdgeAutosport.com; for being AWESOME and catering to those of us who come across the oddest issues.

I don't know if Lex would like to comment on how he feels the tune is? or how much harder he thinks we could push it.

Just wrote you a long reply with another iteration. A couple of things need to be checked as to why the turbo isn't holding boost up top but aside from that it's doing all it can at that altitude and with 100*F IATs.

Unfortunately not. My clutch won't even hold through a 4th gear pull anymore. Luckily it's holding strong for day to day driving back and forth to work and what not.

I'm currently getting together the funds for the clutch/install, which isn't cheap by any means.

Once the clutch is in, I'll be getting back with @Lex; to put the final touches on the tune and possibly making some adjustments. Once it's all said and done, I'll hop on the same Dyno from my K04 run so that there can be a comparison.

Small update: put in my order with ACT for the clutch. The ZX5-HDG6 - HD/Race Sprung 6 Pad kit.

Problem is, the pressure plates are out for heat treating, and it's a 2 week wait.

i've been chilling on my pump gas map since my clutch started to slip. still fun at 22psi.

i probably could read more, but have you messed with your WGA at all? i tightened mine a but in order to run 26psi to redline

Lex and I are going to see how it performs with a clutch that doesn't suck balls, and then go from there. If he feels like we could get more out of it, then I'll tighten the waste gate a little.

I'm really happy with this turbo. And it's going to be nice to see how it does in the cold fall/winter air.

Damm for your clutch!

It s a good writting, i was looking at this turbo also just before i got a deal on a 2871 cast wheel and the GTX2867 seem to flow almost the same with a 4mm smaller wheel!!!
I'm surprise that you got boost about 5-600rpm higher than k04 because i experience about the same with the 2871 and i was expecting a better response from the smaller one...(Something more close to the k04 like 200rpm...) Can it be just because of your altitude, engine deliver less torque at low rpm so less flow to run the turbine ?

The altitude does screw us here. It slows our spool a little, as well as peak boost levels are affected.

You can search around, at the same boost levels, cars at altitude flow less g/s. At 24 psi I'm barely over 300 g/s.

Most places have 91 as premium. BP has 93 octane and Super America has 92 as there premium. Same with Holiday also has E85! Both 91 & 93 are very easy to find around where I live. I would assume Duluth, being a larger city would have 91 & 93, and most likely E85.

Update:

So, little change of plans. Because ACT was taking there sweet time, i contacted @EdgeAutosport.com; and talked to JP, who got a unit shipped THAT DAY!!!!!!! so i should be seeing it late this week, because i'm too lazy (and working) to drive to denver to pick it up.

@maxspeed3; sorry i didn't get to that video man. some pretty substantial life altering things came up. But i didn't forget about ya. I'm going to wait till the clutch is in, and broken in, that way i can get a true WOT pull, instead of a half assed pull because fail clutch.

So, after some slight other issues, i finally got the car back friday afternoon.

Overall, UPP here in town did a fantastic job on my clutch. No adjustments needed to be made after the fact.

I will be doing a full write up on the shop in the Nator CO section for others to use as referance.

Looking to put another 200-250 miles on the clutch before i go ape shit and WOT everywhere because race car, so expect another update most likely by next weekend.

THREAD REVIVAL!!!!

Ok, so over the past week or so, me and lex finaly got back together to finish this bad boy up. I'm at work right now, so i don't have the logs, but i'll post those when i get home tonight.

For now, all i can say is that this car pulls like a frieght-Train all the way through the rev range, and i can't even think about punching it in anything lower than 3k in 3rd or i'll just spin. @Lex; did a terrific job on the tune, as always. I would reccomend him to ANYONE looking for a tune.

As a teaser, i have this chart from lex. When i get home i'll post the MSF standard 1.01 with logs.

Nice. Though I do have one quick question. You have the same intake as myself but when hitting 4.52v on MAF I"m only hitting 315g/s and yours is 367g/s. Is that an elevation thing or is my MAF cal off?

and realize that this power output is at 6300 feet ASL, so sea level would put down more.
