Default SSP Review Speed 6

So I'm on my iPhone and didn't want to write this whole thing out, so I did a lazy thing and copy and pastedthis from the PM I sent Jamie early (when I was on my computer). Anyways...

Hey, just wanted to give a minor review and say you were pretty much dead on with what you said about the TWM shifter. It is a little more difficult to push into gear, but to be honest, at first, I didn't think I had the damn car in gear it was so short!!!

I did have one issue where shifting into third (was all the way in) and I let the clutch out it sounded like it was grinding, pushed clutch back in and let it out, no problems. Dunno what that was about, not worried, don't think it had anything to do with your product.

All in all I am VERY impressed, extremely happy as of yet, and since I don't think I'll be getting rid of it, I might, in a few weeks order one for Stealth, the guy I said I would give it to if I didn't like it.

Thanks again!!!!

Btw, I have a stage 2 TWM sts for those who were wondering.

The shift knob is great, and noticeably heavier than the twm one I had (don't remember which one, it's trapezoidal if u look at the cross section).

I'll write a further review after i've had it on a week or so and have some more miles under its belt.

I'm thrilled you're happy with it. Sounds like that third gear issue was some sort of fluke. I'm very interested in your thoughts after you've had for a while.

Thanks Tbot!!

Thanks for the review, hopefully you'll have good xp's to report on in the future. I'm considering this SSP as well in combination with a TWM SS stage 2.
I thought that the E4 knob was about the same weight as a desert eagle TWM knob (600 grams)
You got this knob right?

I did have that one ^^ yes (sorry I couldn't remember the name). But after holding both in each hand and one at a time in one hand, I could tell the E4 knob was heavier.

As far as the install goes, his directions/instructions are about as straight forward and simple as possible. This has been BY FAR the easiest/simplest mod I've done to my car with some of the most noticeable improvements. And I was thuroughly impressed that EVERYTHING you need to do this comes with his kit (well besides the tools...Jamie you wanna change that too?!? hehe j/k)

So far the biggest thing I've had to do is retrain my "muscle memory" for when to STOP shifting. I'm still used to traveling further, and there are times where I can feel (at least I think) the shift lever bending (or giving).

Like I said in the first post, I still don't think I'm all the way in gear some of the time and expect the motor to rev up and nothing happen which in turn surprises me with my car taking off!!!

My HAPPIEST thing about this is that I'm no longer missing 3rd gear shifts. I would for some reason before not quite get it in gear (wouldn't travel any further) and have to pull it back into neutral and put it back in gear for it to go. Jamie's SSP has COMPLETELY remedied that issue all together. It feels solid now!

Again, reminder to those that have a TWM sts, going from neutral to the LEFT (as in towards first/second and reverse) didn't change at all, still easy, stock feeling if you will. But going to the right (as in towards 5th/6th) is stiffer. Shifting from 5th to 6th is stiff as well and takes a noticeable amount more effort to make that shift happen. Granted on the other hand, going from 6th DOWN to 5th is relatively easy, not sure what gives with that, but it is what it is I guess.

45 minute drive to work today (fucking snow!!!) I was loving life, almost glad the highways were a mess, gave me a chance to shift more often So yeah, I really like it.

tbot has just provided some very valuable information. I have no first hand experience with the TWM Stage 2 and the shift plate together, but I do with the TWM Stage 1 and the shift plate combination.

One thing I noticed while designing the shift plate for the MS6 was that the stock shifting feel is much softer and smoother than the MS3. More luxurious if you will. So I think you MS6 owners are in for a little more of a shock when switching over from stock to a short shift plate. What was very obvious to me when I tested it with and with out the TWM Stage 1 was that it felt better and much easier then the MS3 with the shift plate. I think that you'll find that it's something that you'll get accustomed to very easily and quickly.

Thanks,
Jamie

^^ I honestly think you would be alright. I just found out that apparently there's some adjustments that can be made, but not sure what it is exactly, but it might help my 5th and 6th gear issue (which I dont' think is much at all).

In a follow up. I will say that I love it! The only problem is like I said retraining my muscle memory to where to move the shifter for gears (I go out of first to go into neutral and put it in second...seriously, the short of throws) and if I'm in neutral on the highway and going into a gear, it takes a little longer cause its not quite the same feel now.

Over all tho, couldn't be happier. Its what I was expecting when I got the STS from TWM. Oh, and btw, no missed gears as of yet. Before I would somehow manage to miss 3rd all the time, have yet to since the SSP install.

Thanks again Jamie!
