I see a lot of accusations, which were responded to with a photo and that was disputed.

Is Mitutoyo a good enough brand for you? I measured in 3 places. As I guessed (and now confirmed), the tolerance on this bar is enough that 1", 25mm, 26mm are all within acceptable thicknesses. So yes, 1" has always been and will always be correct.

I just don't want to get blocked from a section just because of some vendor drama. I'm actively working on measuring the ms3 suspension and sharing the results here on MSF.

Well so much that is posted seems to upset a specific group of people. Would make your life easier if you did not have to see this, right?

When you "confirmed 26 mm" or whatever, why no pics? Did not not measure before you posted?

I can see why people don't wanna come here more and more. This kind of crap.

I measured back in Texas a micrometer when I started autoxing in DS. I saw the exact same thing that's posted above in the photos. More consistently I found closer to 26 than 1".

Agreed on the swinging needing to stop. They swing both ways.

They dont exist, because a counterpoint wasn't necessary.

But I'm to find the same thing that gr8speed found. Inconsistent measurements because there is a tolerance.

I've never been anything but civil, and like I said, the published (by multiple verifiable sources) size is 26mm.

Jesus fucking Christ.

I'd point out the inaccuracy no matter where I saw it.

My first post in this thread was in 2011 - right after I purchased a JBR bar. I didn't come in here to stir shit. I posted a response to some inaccurate information in a thread in my subscribed thread feed.

Why Mazda would use an SAE spec for this ONE part is beyond me, and I dont believe it to be correct.

The bars are 26 mm (with accounting for tolerance). Not 1".

You do realize that all of my dimensions are closer to 25mm than 26mm, right? Also, stop saying you responded to inaccurate information. You now have 2 accounts that the info is correct.

You think posts like mine are driving out good members?

Get real.

Here's an idea: Perhaps guys are leaving because they, say, get jumped on and accused of stirring shit just for posting something that is published everywhere (and not just on MSF), but contradicts what a single vendor claims.

If you call that negativity, then I don't know what to fucking tell you.

You will not find 26mm solid bar steel and IF you managed to, I'm going to bet the cost would be astronomical.

I will check tomorrow if I have time. We use one of the largest US steel suppliers for all our material, I'm confident they would know.

Here is the counterpoint to Jamie's Photo:

I took a whole bunch more measurements, just like @Gr8Speed; and found the same kind of tolerance, above and below 26, most ranging around 25.8-25.9mm. IMO - "MY" bar is 26mm, since I've actually measured 30 points on the bar and found an average before. The majority of my photos looked something like this. If you're finding something different- it could be global tolerances.

If you can find out who makes the bar or who sells mazda their steel- not who "might", but who does, you might be on to something. I had a spare mz3 sedan bar downstairs that measured this:

Which is suspiciously close to 3/4". HOWEVER- I have a chart full of suspicions that mm's and inches are the same thing: a length of measure. If you we can definitely find out where the bars come from, we might have an answer. Until then, if you care between 26mm or 1" measure your shit yourself, and not just one time with caliper, because tolerances occlude what your true bar size is.

There is actually stuff to be learned here. So let's keep this harmonious and respectful, not just for @Raider;'s sensibilities.

You don't think Mazda can get 26 mm steel round if they want to? Raw steel purchasing isn't exactly my area of expertise, so I'm actually asking...

It also seems weird to me that with so many 1 mm incremental bar sizes out there for various cars, that it would be so common for OEMs to be rounding from "common" SAE sizes...

Do you really think they would hesitate to save 20% by using 25.4mm bar vs 26mm bar?

I stand corrected, it's 26m.

I guess the 4 we measured are all the same because of global tolerances. I should have listened to myself earlier and just went about my day.
