Arrow NEW JBR Oil Catch Can Kits in Stock!!

Performance Aftermarket Parts & Accessories

JBR Oil Catch Can Kits

Details: JBR Stage 1 Oil Catch Can Kit.
During everyday engine operation, blow-by gases, as well as oil mist from the engines rotating components pass through the PCV valve and are routed back into the intake for the engine to burn off. However, some of that oil mist and other contaminates adhere to the intake and the valves. Over time a crust is formed reducing performance and potentially leading to a costly cleaning or repair. This is especially a problem for 2.3L DISI motor where there's no fuel passing over the valves to clean them. This is why an OCC is a must have for the Mazda 2.3L DISI community.

As PCV gases enter the catch can they disperse and flow through a series of four filter screens. As the gases flow through the screens, heavy oil and gunk sticks and lighter gases reach the outlet tube at the top. Accumulated oil and gunk naturally run off the filter screens and collect at the bottom of the tank. Throughout the life of the catch can, the filter media will never break down or need to be replaced like catch cans with mesh filter material. The net effect is blow-by gases, oil and other impurities do not have a chance to reach critical components of your engine.

Construction:
Lids Press-Formed from 304 stainless
Inlet & outlet fittings fabricated from straight 5/8" 304 stainless tubing
Can fabricated from 304 stainless and CNC machined components
Precision TIG welding on all components
Internal filters machined from 6061 perforated aluminum
1/4" NPT quick drain

Includes:
Oil Catch Can
60" of 5/8" reinforced vacuum hose for numerous mounting locations
Stainless steel hose clamps
Stainless steel mount hardware
Custom Mounting bracket
All the necessary fittings to get the job done right
Online installation instructions

Details: JBR Oil Catch Can Check Valve.
So what’s wrong with the factory PCV valve?
The short answer is… nothing; as long as the car is stock and everything is properly maintained. But if you are running anything more than stock boost or would prefer to not have oily residue in your intake and crud building up on your valves, read on.

Since the PCV valve is the heart of the PCV system, let’s start there. This thing is notorious for not being able to completely close to prevent boost from entering the crankcase, even when brand new. Add a few thousand miles worth of crud flowing back and forth through it and it the worse it gets. And the more boost you run, the greater the problem becomes.

The check valve included with the stage 2 OCC kit is designed to be closed 100% of the time unless vacuum is present. This check valve is oil, fuel and chemical resistant. It's constructed from solid brass, it has an incredibly low crack pressure and it's the largest check valve available so that normal flow isn’t impeded.

Unfortunately the OEM check valve just can't close instantly under boost and therefore crankcase pressure and turbo spool times are increased. For higher boosting cars or those seeking the best possible performance out of their engine an OCC check valve is a must.

Funny, I was wondering why the OCC kits didn't say out of stock when I went to your site about half an hour ago. This explains why

What's the recommended mount point on the passenger side? I scouted it out last weekend and wasn't sure where I wanted to mount it. Any recommendations from you would be great!

Off of this braket:

It's a bit of a pain in the ass. The bracket needs to be bent a bit and the power steering lines are sorta in the way too but it's doable. I'm sure there are others that have done this so I hope they chime in with suggestions.

Thanks,
Jamie

My only complaint is that it's sometimes hard to see the pictures, with the black parts in front of a black background. OCC looks good though. If I ever decide to run a second one I'd probably get it.

I definitely want to get this because JBR's stuff is too notch.

Just need to justify the money right now. lol. I will have to mount this on the passengers side.

I did my OCC install today. It took me about 1.5 hours to do with about 30 minutes spent trying to get the hose off my PCV value. The clamp was slightly melted or glued to the hose, so it wasn't moving away from the valve - eventually I was able to keep the clamp open long enough to just slide the hose off the value.

Anyways I just had one question about the install. On the OCC, does the hose from the PCV valve go on the top outlet, or does the one from the intake go on the top? Based on what I read, the one from the PCV valve should go on the top outlet and that's how I installed it.

Here are some pictures of the final install - if there are any issues with what you see, please let me know

looking forward to giving you some more of my money James.
BTW is that Parker hose you use in the kit? If it is, I have double reason to buy them since my dad has been working for Parker for over 30 years.

Inatalled my stage 2 last night. Took about 45min, luckily the hoses came off with just a little twist and pull. Had to trim the hose from PCV to OCC a bit but everything else in the kit was perfect fit!
Another great product from JBR!!

-Weird thing tho, after install, cover plate back on and everything ready to go, turned key and no start!?! WTF!? No click no nothing... checked for codes with AP, nothing.. Disconneted battery, still nothing. Took cover plate off and inspected everything that i installed, nothing unplugged..No start.. Pulled hoses off OCC, turned key, fired up!? Put everything back together and starts fine everytime, everything back to normal.. Weird.... ??

Out of curiosity, who makes the actual catch can? Good to see another option for OCC's!

Way to avoid names! Thanks though! OCC's are definitely useful for these engines.

Just wanted to post an update... I checked the installation and catch can after about 3 weeks and I got about an ounce or two out of the catch can. Installation looked good too - no leaks or other issues that I could tell.

Everything will freeze but, it will thaw pretty quickly after driving for a bit. You'll want to check and/or drain after the car has been run for a while.

I took my OCC off for dealer work a couple months back and haven't put it back on yet. I'm pretty sure I had pre-detonation (I'm thinking it might be the gas in CA, lots of additives for smog laws and 91 is the highest octane we get) and the OCC helped, because it never happened when it was on, but I've had it a couple times since I took it back off.

Do you have a bracket for the CX-7 OCC?

I believe the bracket we currently include should work just fine for mounting on the CX-7 although I've never installed a kit on one. Have a look at the installation instructions in the support section of our website.

Thanks,
Jamie

Alright I should be getting one of these soon. I have a question about something answered above already. From the PCV valve, should that hose not connect to the bottom of the OCC? My thought is if thats where its coming from, as its dripping (into the occ) from the top, couldnt air return some of that into the line heading into the manifold? Im sure the amount would be negligible even if it did make it all the way up there. Just curious as to why pcv>top hole is preffered.

Thanks!

Oil will typically not drip from the upper line unless the car isn't running. When the car is running the oil and vapor will be blown across the can to the back wall. There are no hard angle surfaces inside the can so the oil is spun around the walls of the can through 4 screens and collects in the bottom. Is some oil vapor drawn out of the can in to the intake, yes. This is the case with every catch can but, the amount is so significantly less then with out the catch can.

Thanks,
Jamie

While I don't have JBR's kit, I do have a catch can. If you're on the fence about it, just get it. I drained mine about 2 months ago and got so much shit. The containers I drained them into were then "eaten" by the gunk. Fucking disgusting.

Silly question, does the OCC kit interfere with the Commifornia Smog BS equipment? Will the smog police have an issue with it?

I had mine on (Los Angeles) for a few months and had no problems with any CEL or other codes. It won't negatively effect the actual exhaust either, so no, it won't have any impact on passing smog.
