(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score First off I have not done any adjustment to my shifter yet!! I am looking to get different opinions on what may or may not be my issue. I installed my shift plate, weight and bushings into my 2012 speed 3 with 20,000km and set it at the shortest setting. I have zero issues upshifting in any of the gears during any type of driving, be it casual or spirited. My only issue is the 3rd to 2nd downshift during a higher rpm. If i wait until the downshift would be around the 2500 to 3000 rpm range its fine. Any higher rpm and I get some resistance, or the occasional very slight grind.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score everything is tight!! I lengthened the throw just off the shortest setting to see if anything changes.

| Not Ranked : 0 score maybe it is your transmission locking you out cause you are at two high of speed and high rpm to down shift to 2nd

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score It is better with the lengthened throw. I'm not downshifting at some astronomical rpm! During spirited driving I try and rev match my downshift between 3k and 4k max.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Why would you want to down shift in to 2nd at that high an RPM? It's your trans telling you not to. Stick to below 3k and rev match. Last edited by JBR; 08-18-2013 at 06:46 AM. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score When I downshift I rev match and aim to have second come in at the rpm I stated above. If it ever reaches 4k its my own fault and I understand that, but is there something wrong with trying to stay in the cars powerband and aim to be at 3k when second gear engages?

| Not Ranked : 0 score Maybe you should adjust your shifter? You said you haven't done it yet, so it may be the next logical step.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Very Logical yes! But why is it only on the downshift? Upshifts are fine in every gear no matter how fast or slow my shifting is, no matter what rpm. ilias how many miles on your tranny since your install?

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have 20 000 mils on it. You can try adjusting the shifter, but I don't think is going to help, It's just the way the shifter is made.

| Not Ranked : 0 score When I put my JBR shift plate on it shifted up fine...my issues were downshifting from 6th-5th and 3rd-2nd. Adjusted the shifter and it's been fine ever since. Just a suggestion since you haven't tried it yet. I also rev-match lower in the RPM range, so maybe that's why mine goes into second a little easier. I start my match at about 2000-2200 RPM and depending on how aggressive I'm driving sometimes it will end up being just shy of 3000 when second catches and engages. Never more than 3000 though, so maybe that's the point where the car is trying to tell you to not put it into gear at that high of a RPM. I dunno haha.
