Sorry for the thread revival, but I tried this yesterday and it did not work for me...

I first tested the green wire and found that I was getting some current through it with the headlight/foglight switches off (dim glow on my indicator light), then once the switches are engaged the indicator light brightens up fully, like it should. So this seems off from what OP said should happen...

The orange wire test results were as they should be.

I then used the clamp-on style t connectors (pics below for reference) to jumper the green and orange cable together. I did not cut either cable, I just used the clamp connector things like shuebox mentioned in post #76 .

Thing is, after jumpering the two cables together, the fog lights still do not work independently of the headlights... The system only acts like it does in OEM configuration.

Does anyone have any idea why this may be? I'm certain I found the correct wires and I know current is able to flow through the clamp connectors and my "t'ed" in jumper cable as I tested all for continuity...

This may sound dumb - but my buddy tried this and when I looked at it i found he used the wrong orange wire.. You used the green from the upper grey harness and the Orange from lower blue harness correct?
If so I'm not sure what happened but I've done 4 gen pu speed 3 and they all are still working great.
Double check the wires and see if mistakenly used wrong lead.

Good luck with it

Yeah I am almost positive they are the correct wires, 6 down on the right column of the top connector is the green wire and top right of the bottom blue connector is the orange wire...

Did you cut the wires or just jumper them together?

I will check and test the wires again after work today, but I am damned near 100% sure that I'm on the correct wires...

If this doesn't work I was thinking about trying the under the glove box method in this link, has anyone tried out this other method and run into issues or anything?

I believe you need to cut the wires or use a wire splice like someone else did above and said it worked.

And your link appears to be for the Juan not the pu

I did use a wire tap connector, similar to what was used. The one I used is the blue, 2 piece with the spade connector, like the pictures I put up. And yeah that link is older, and for the genone, but I believe this trick has also been noted to work on first gen's or maybe I'm just making that up...

I did have a thought that maybe the wire taps I used aren't getting a good enough bite on the stock wiring. I used the blue ones meant for 14-18g wiring. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I don't know what gauge the stock wiring is, but I know that when I tested the contacts on the wire clamps, there was current passing through as it illuminated my test light when the headlight/fog light switches were in their appropriate orientations...

Guys, I appreciate the help so far, but I started another thread specific to my issue so if there are any more suggestions, please put them in that thread (link below) so there is no double posting and jumping back and forth, thanks!

Independent fog light issue

So out of curiosity how would I wire this same setup to run with no lights on at all? I've looked everywhere online for a true independent mod while using the stock switch. Would be forever grateful for the knowledge.

Wait, what are you trying to do? This post already is how to manually control the fog lights...

I want to be able to use the factory switch without having to use the parking lights.

Why would one want the fogs on completely by themselves?
