Revolution Performance Motorsports Revolution Performance Manufacturing (RPM) was started by three Mazda 6 enthusiasts in early 2004 under a simple premise: to develop and manufacture new products for the Mazda 6 at an affordable price. We began to realize our purpose with the short throw shifter and gas hood lifter kits for that vehicle. Since then, we have added many new aftermarket products from well-known manufacturers and continue to expand to offer products for other vehicles with the goal of having the best prices and customer service on the 'net.

The Stage 2 looks like a great upgrade for a DD without having to buy a lot of extra supporting modifications. I wonder how much it would affect an existing tune?

If your going to upgrade your turbo, its best just to retune it rather than running your previous tune. Might run like shit or not to your expectation.

This is true. Stage 2 (and Stage 1 for that matter) is a minor upgrade from stock, but it does flow a bit more and the compressor map is different. You definitely shouldn't assume that it will operate exactly the same as your stock turbo.

I understand. Just kind of thinking of where to go with all of this. Next year may bring a bigger turbo and different tuning if I can swing it. But to be honest, as much as I love power, I want reliability over the long haul too. So while a S3 BNR would be great, I would rather just give up some power and keep supporting costs down with a S2.

I know there are a lot of Hypertech haters on here, but it does work great for a bolt on car. It is just limited on what you can do to yourself (no ability for custom tunes, etc.). I know it is very rich so I was thinking of how I would go about purchasing the mods. Turbo first, then custom tuning with AP, or the reverse, or all together (which is how I am sure I will go).

Just ignore me, my mind is on a thousand different things right now. It has been a crazy year. Lol.

If you upgrade your turbo you will need a proper tune to go with it. Its definitely not optional. So I would strongly advise buying them [AP, tune, and turbo] at the same time.

That said, once you buy an AP, you really don't have anything that would keep you from running an S3 if you wanted. All you would need to do is pick up a couple minor things like a 3 bar MAP sensor and a 3 port EBCS. Further more, you might even want to look in to those parts even if you decided to just stick with the S2.

Just a few things to consider.

If I'm looking at the bnr s1 to replace my about to shit itself k04, there'd be little issues for the tuneage which is the hypertech?

In theory, reflash to stock, replace turbo, reflash tune, and done. That's my brownie logic again.

Are you able to source turbo gaskets, or they included?

The S1 is probably the only exception.

I cant say I have ever heard of anyone using a HT tuner with an S1. However I do know that you can use a Cobb OTS map to get you started, so I imagine HT would lead to similar results. I'd still probably look for a custom tune at some point though.

As far as the gaskets go, we can get you whatever you need. We are still working on getting the Mazda OEM stuff listed on the site, but we can work with you directly if you need something before that stuff gets listed. Just shoot us a PM

Still havent ordered it but I did get an email back from Hypertech when I emailed them with the bnr s1 tech info and asked if it'd work.

Got a succinct, 'yep'. Not sure if thats a good thing tho (lol?).
