| Not Ranked : 0 score Tin foil doesn't sound so stupid now, does it... lol IIRC the PCB ground on the SB isn't tied to the SB chassis. At one point i had Gerry try tying those two together to see if it helped some. The mazdaspeed is def a noisy beast when it's making power. Hope all works out well Gerry and Sander!

| Not Ranked : 0 score I didn't hear if Gerry ever tried that or not. That is basically what I am saying and imo the reason the cable I tried fixed the issue. I am just grounding my laptop chassis to ground which in turn should be grounding the SB USB cable and thus SB to the cars chassis. And no, the pcb of the SB is not connected to the chassis of the SB. It just sits in some grooves of the chassis, but no electrical grounding between the two.

| Not Ranked : 0 score IMO, a properly grounded PCB, electrically connected to the housing, and cable shielding connected to the same housing on all cables in and out of the SB would help immensely. And grounding the other end of the usb cable and laptop certainly wouldn't hurt lol. Sounds like your making great progress Matt!

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score there are quite a few things I been meaning to try but this weather just wont let up. Like I said on my bt thread im 100% the issue is noise related I went out and tried out Matt's software with my current tune it failed. I then lowered my boost from 23-24 to 19-20 and I was able to log with Matt's sb software with no problem. |

The selection for "use alternate MAP" did not work with.. I'd select it, it would write and verify properly, but when I pulled the map back off the SB it would be unchecked..

| Not Ranked : 0 score So I tested CP-E's new version a little bit. Good (so far) - I did not get the read failures yet. Cant say for sure if they are fixed as it was somewhat infrequent I did get this. I did not manage to try logging either yet. So not sure if that works or not. Bad: - The MAF Transfer table (bottom half) still does not load correctly from a tune file - The map indicator (P or S) is still backwards. Minor: - Really minor, but being a developer I have to mention it. If the splash screen is going to say the version of the software, it would be best if it was the correct version. - If this is the mazda version of the software, remove the BMW references. Can anyone comment on what exactly the "Use Alternate MAP Sensor" does? Is it specifically for the AEM map sensor? I just don't see an option to configure the map sensor other than "use alternate". FYI, if you want these comments elsewhere let me know. I know this was the thread originally for logging issues.

| Not Ranked : 0 score SS, I tested this out and I don't see any issue with the CP-E software on this matter. I checked the "Use Alternate Map Sensor", hit Send Params, unchecked the box, hit read Params and the box got checked automatically. So it seems to be reading/writing that param fine.

I believe that the alternate map sensor is slated for a 3.5 bar linear transducer. I'll double check tomorrow though.

It would be very nice if it was just a checkbox and the SB allowed you to enter the transfer equation for your particular sensor (Y= mX+b)..

| Not Ranked : 0 score Thanks for the info. The equation would be nice, but unfortunately that would require a firmware update to the SB as it does not have that functionality at the moment (that i am aware of). Not something that can be done in software alone.

I would like to personally see a user definable voltage vs. pressure sensor offset table in the software at somepoint, however, there really aren't that many people (with Mazdaspeed cars) who need to see more than 20 psi, let alone more than 36.7 psi. (Greater than 3.5 Bar map would read). If there are enough people that would like to see the use of different map sensors, I can see what we can do about changing the software / firmware.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I tried both wires Sander sent me and no cigar! I think CPE needs to figure out what we needs shielded and include a kit with their SB. Sorta like what they did with adding Filters for any standback sold prior to when they figured out filters were a necessary. This really sucks! Im about to order slicks I need this resolved already. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Sander sent me the wire which I had to connect the ground to the main ground point in the engine bay, same one as the battery negative on the driver's side. Matt Im positive as you make more power you will experience the same issues again. Like I said in the past if I lower boost a bit or lower timing i can log with no issues. Its frequency noise no doubt in my mind which is related to how much power you're making. Im still waiting on Sander to get back to me. If I dont hear from him in the next few days I'm going to call CPE but this isnt looking good. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Sorry Gerry, I must not have gotten an email from you on this. I'm discussing with Lou the next plan of action on this. I've brought up the idea of grounding the USB plug internally to the chassis ground to see if this helps. I'll let you know something tomorrow hopefully.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'd say it's 25% of the time for me when I drop my connection when using Matt's software (I don't use BBX). However, I've noticed the connection drops about 50% of the time when running my laptop off of AC power instead of battery.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Yea the laptop/sb already has to deal with a bunch of noise from the engine. AC noise is just going to make that even worse. Has anybody else had luck with the grounding cable? I know this wont work all the time for everyone, but it helped me out a lot. Worth a shot... I do believe Gerry is going down to CP-E to have them look at the issue. Hopefully that will yield results.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Matt, what ground are you talking about? The one that's on the PNP harness? Now that I think about it, I never connected the ground on my PNP.

| Not Ranked : 0 score No im talking about a custom made USB cable I made and wrote about. It grounds your laptop to the car, in theory helping eliminate the noise (or some of it) on the SB. The idea was that the cable would ground the laptop to car chassis, and this would in turn ground the SB to the cars chassis. Starting on page 2 we talk about it. Sander even sent it to Gerry to try, though no luck. It looks like it eliminates some of the noise, but the more power your car makes, the more noise, the better solution we need. See Gerrys thread: http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...tml#post711178

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score After thinking about things I decided not to go down to CPE. Im moving on to the AP shortly. I was able to take a few logs by lowering my boost a bit. My tune is basically done for a street tune. I'll take her to the strip a few times and then swap in the AP. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score just a side note for those who havent jumped ship, YET, lol theres a setting in windows 7 (and maby other OS's) that lowers the USB power when running on battery. apparently the proceed has this same problem so you all might want to look into this.
