(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score So last night me and a friend went for a run in my car, just doing some pulls, going on this windy road, having fun. So anyways, I let my friend drive, and he drives an Si, and has a different driving style than me. He keeps it in low gears throughout 30/40mph to get strong pulls, while I baby the engine a bit, and only downshift into a lower gear when I'm ready to go for a pull. Anyways, so you have that bit of background... Today on start-up I noticed the start-up was a little rougher than normal. Then when I shut off the car I noticed that this was also rougher than normal. It sounds like the engine does a little shake under the hood before it completely shuts off. I was worried that the side mount might be giving in, that's why shut down was rough? So on the way home I have the volume on mute listening closely to every sound my car makes...So I rest my foot on the clutch and notice a little vibration. It disappears when I depress the clutch but is there when my foot is resting. I put in my SU MM last week, so I can't tell if the vibration is from the MM, or from the engine. I am thinking about bringing it to the dealership to get the TSB reflash and fuel pump, and see if that will help anything. But before I go back to stock and do that, IF I do that, I wanted to double check here if it's all in my imagination or if its possible that I could have bent a rod, or that she's close to blowing...HELP PLEASE!!! |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Fixed the problem! This is the solution someone suggested, and since it was such a quick fix I decided to try it... "lol, sounds like KAM is ****ing with you... KAM = Keep Alive Memory... being that you normally only drive roughly when you need/want to, but then went out for a day beatin on the thing, the car is programmed to change it's programming to fit your driving (i.e. more fuel, more timing) so now it's in "performance mode", it should go back to normal just by pulling the battery cable (or at least stock programming)... if it doesn't return to normal, i'd revert to stock and take it to the dealer and say it's "acting up", they'll charge you with diag time, and find out if anything is broken, BUT they will notice that you had a day of fun (cars have "black boxes") and probably ask you not to do that, then probably tell you that you'll need a re-flash, and that driving that way continuously can void your warranty (they cover normal wear and tear, but if you're peggin' the redline, they'll drop you)" Disconnected my battery overnight, popped it back in the morning, and WOW what a big difference. Engine turns on and shuts off like the first day I got her. Amazing what a simple ECU reset does...and vibrations in the clutch are extremely minimal now (I think whatever vibration is from the MM breaking in) |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Well I'm not surprised people including myself are, considering people new to this board have most likely just gotten their car and started modding, and all of a sudden we read post after post of people blowing their engines just strolling along... |

| Not Ranked : 0 score you have to remember, this is probably the most "aggressive" of the ms3 forums. you get the people who push the limits and get greedy with it, like myself. if i blow my motor before i get my rods/pistons in, im not gonna blame the platform. im going for the goods, it will be nobodys fault but my own.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I am just wondering, but how long has the fuel pump and tsb reflash been out? I wonder if this is why i have problems with my car. I have not been to the dealership since summer last year, and now my motor is suffering, i think valve train slap.
