Default Navigation issue

Hi, I'm new here. I just bought a 2008 cx7 with navigation.
The problem I have right now it's when I press the nav o menu button the screen goes black. So I check and the DVD unit was dead I couldn't hear the disk spinning and couldn't remove the disk inside like if it was out of power. So I order a used one from eBay, when I installed the other DVD unit it's the same seems to be dead, so I'm thinking it has to be something else. Probably the wiring? Someone has the pin out to check the connectors?? Any idea??
Hope someone can help.

Have you checked the fuse for it? I would pop the seat out and check the wiring too.

I didn't know it has its own fuse. I will check that. Does it share the fuse with something else?

Not really sure. I know there is a fuse for it. I would check it out, though. Since you actually swapped it, I am thinking that wiring is fine, but wonder if it got disconnected elsewhere en route to the head unit.

Steps to remove the headunit are in here:
56K no way! How to: Install a jack for MP3 player on a CX-7 -NAV setup included

But I would trace all wiring.

I only replace de DVD unit bit not the wiring. All those cables run to the back of the head unit? Or somewhere else?

I'm not sure. Did you replace the DVD unit under the seat? If so you will want to trace the wiring. Will probably go up into the dash.

But first, check all fuses. There should be a red light on the DVD player when it is working, I think. Been a while. If there is no power to the unit, then that's where you need to look. Fuses are easy.

Yep, only replace the DVD under the seat and no red light. I will check the all the fuses and then the wiring. Do you know which is the power pin so I can trace it.

Something simple, figured.

VIP for $25 gets you the last nav map they made. All you need to do then is download the files, merge them, and burn them to a dual layer DVD. Link is in the VIP section.
