Default how to: single amp install w/bose

write up on how to install sub with amp on a bose setup v2.0 with better pix, descriptions, ect... lost during great server disaster of 2010...

tired of your supposed "high end" Bose system not having a bottom end like jessica alba? then do this and youll be fine...

first thing you want to do is run your power wire. remove battery, drop panel out from under the drivers side, and pop all the door sill panels along the floor.

fashion some kind of modern day poker/cable puller assembly kinda like this:

then run it through the wire harness grommet that goes through the firewall. itll poke a small enough hole to allow the cable to go through, but no water later on. had it for a few years now and havent had any water intrusion.

run the cable through the door sills, make sure you go on the outboard side of the drivers seat belt. its a mofo to work, but itll go. if not just tuck it up nice and neat.

now you have power to the trunk space. this is where youre gonna have fun with splicing into wires. use whatever you want, i got these easy clip deals. have been solid for years no worries...

remove trunk bed, and get to the bose amp. it has a cover over it that just snaps out.

run your power back here and have your ground cable ready. i installed mine right to where the bose amp grounds the chassis i believe.

now on the Bose, the first one i spliced was the "remote on" cable. it is the far left hand plug on the bose amp and the furthest left cable on the bottom.

ok so speaker splice. two sets of cables, lefthand side of middle plug, top and bottom. one solid white and one solid grey each.

i used "white hot/grey not" to match up "Monster Cable" speaker wires that have white writing on one and nothing on the other. run these to your line converter. here you see the line converter. i turned all the pots down and then worked them upwards. used the line out setting on it. connected rca's and ran to amp.

i used the scosche per recommendations. worked out great.

you also see that im running the amp bridged into one channel. then i ran the speaker line to sub and fired it up on a test run. was stumped why i got barely any sound and messed with the pots on line converter and amp for about five minutes before i realized that the volume was on 5 in the car... der... so i fixed that... anyway, here is the finished product.

i put all the wires away nice and tucked and when i get a chance, if ever, ill zip tie all things and make it super nice. but not a high priority for me right now... anyway, i hope this helps someone else whom enjoys music as much as i do. oh and dont rag my little pioneer 8" sub. it hits super hard and is awsome for my rock n roll... maybe someday ill grow up and buy a JL Audio or something... anyway, any questions or if i missed something let me know. hope this helps out...

save yourself some scratch and trunkspace and just get a single sub. or use the same amount of money and get a better sub. since it is sitting in the cab with you, the bass acoustics are very efficient and dont require a massive dual/tri sub setup. unless of course you really want to go boom! i have the equalizer settings on the display in the negatives and the pots turned down to 1/2 or less on everything because the bass is uber loud where in a car with an actual trunk i had everything maxed out. i have a 1000w digital monoblock running that little bitty 8" pioneer and it hits loud enough for rock to techno to r&b. anyway, just my thoughts...

edit:
this will suffice:

I prefer self-enclosed subs like the pioneer one. more practical. And you leave yourself tons of cargo space.

I have the same car, 08 cx7, I have my own amp and sub box I'm putting in, but I need to use the bose speakers for all the doors and stuff, I hooked it all up and realized I have the bass, but no speakers now... I'm trying to see if by following your guide here, can I still hook up the speakers running through the remote for my own amp / subs? this is very time sensitive!

Then resurrecting a 3 year old thread may not be your best option.

Sorry I can't help I don't have the Bose system in my CX7.

Try searching some of the other threads on upgrading the sub amp.

Default Factory amp plug

I realize this is an old thread but I'm hoping you can answer a few questions for me. Why did you unplug the factory amp plug? Did you reconnect it after installation?
Thanks, Matt
