Default What to do What to do...

So I'm the new, proud owner of an 07' Speed 3 and have been researching and just brushing up on bolt-on mods available for car. I'm trying to think long term however and don't want any buyers remorse when the time comes to purchasing something. For my first mod I was thinking either a CAI or the COBB down pipe, although I've been having some second guesses on what to get first (like it really matters).

For the intake I noticed the only Cobb intake I could find was a short ram, which I was trying to stay away from.. Question 1: Does Cobb make a CAI? And if so could someone PM me a link!

Ive been looking at the JBR stage 2 intake but 'trying to plan long term' I looked up AP tunes and found none to compliment the JBR intake.. Question 2: Is there a map on the AP that will compliment the JBR intake? And would it matter mixing the JBR intake with the Cobb down pipe when everything gets installed?
---------
Looking at downpipes for the Speed 3, Cobb seems to be the favorite. What are some other options that compare and perform admirably against Cobb?

Thanks for the help

Here's what you do. This isn't a place you get spoon fed. Everytime a stupid question gets asked on this site, a kitten dies. All of the info you are asking is available. Do this instead.

1. Go on google.com

2. Enter: site www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum [subject]
where [subject] is what you want to learn about (don't use brackets).

3. Click search.

Learn. Save a kitten's life. Read your welcome message.

Welcome. Based on what I just read you could use some more reading. Don't get a downpipe without high pressure fuel pump/internals. Also I don't get why you wouldn't want a short ram. I see no true benefits of buying a cold air intake when the air is going to the turbo. Get a short ram. 3".

Once again. Search, read, enjoy your stay.

We (Stratified) make maps specifically for the JBR intakes.

Go jbr intake, flash stratified map and then start reading. You have a lot to Lear before you do any other mods

I wouldn't purchase anything until you read more. You have a ton to learn about this car and how to mod it properly.

If you don't want buyers remorse, do your homework.

I wouldn't worry about downpipes yet. Read the stickies, they will help you immensely.

Everyone has already said it, but I feel it needs to be said again:

You have evidently not researched nearly enough. There have been some really nice replies in here pointing you in the right direction. That is unusual for MSF, especially for someone who hasn't donated, made an introduction thread, and very obviously not read the welcome PM and stickies.

Read, read, read, ask a question or two after MUCH research on a topic you still don't understand, and then read some more.

Your first two questions got answered very nicely for you, and there are multiple downpipe comparison threads all over the forum. The choice there is yours depending on your budget and goals for the car.

Happy reading

Uhhh thanks for the warm welcome?!

I spent all day looking up general stuff and NO SHIT I have a lot more to learn, but yes if I had more time that day I'm sure I could have found the answer, although I figured posting the question would save me time. Everyone who posted "google it" ya thanks for the advice... Please understand my last car was a 98' Prelude with a few bolt ons. I'm not the most mechanically inclined person (some of you laugh as your reading that I know it) but im not used to having a newer car like this. My Prelude was a beater and forgive me for taking precautions as I'd like to mod this car the right way and have some sort of direction.

Lex, Thanks for a quick answer to my question. To everyone else, I've had the car for not even a week so obviously I'm trying to brush up on my knowledge. Ill try to refrain from stupid questions but please not stupid replies or comments

One must first have knowledge in order to brush up on it.

Little known fact: the MS3 has been for sale since 2007. In some bizarre attempt to make money, Mazda did make and sell more MS3s besides yours. This may be a mindfuck, but you aren't the first one to attempt to mod your MS3. Literally thousands and thousands of people have modded theirs. Some of their stories are on here, and are easy to search and read, though it may take more than the 2 minutes you used to search before asking and wasting our time.

Goddamnit, somebody find Godspeed and tell him to get back to disciplining n00bs. N00bs have gotten out of hand without him here.

Haha, this reminds me of a guy that came up to my car a few days ago:

"Nice speed, you got a front mount?"
Me: "No, I don't need one"
"I ned one, where do I get one?"
"If you need one, you know where to buy one"
"No I don't know where to buy one, but I need one cause it looks awesome"
"What do you have so far for mods?"
"Rims, drop, thinking about a cbe for some more power but fmic would make way more power, so I figure I'll get that first"

God.

Count your fucking blessings for getting this "warm welcome". Previous to my MS6, my other car was a 99 EK hatch with a homemade intake comprised of a boost tube, filter, JB Weld & zip ties(I know, stupid. But it worked). From that sentence you can see that I'm not mechanically inclined either. But I read and read and read and guess what, READ SOME MORE. Thanks to MSF, this platform has seen MANY advances. Be thankful that these fine people share their wealth with us. Now donate and see all the VIP sexiness, or shut the fuck up brownie faggot. This isn't the place for your brown ass to get lippy.

I thought the initial feedback was reasonable and pretty mild in comparison to some other rookie hazing that usually takes place.

OP- make a new account and try again.

Stop being such a whiny little girl and grow some thick skin. You're not the first person to ask a stupid question and get flamed for it, and to be completely honest, what was said really wasn't bad in comparison to how other welcome threads have gone down. Get over yourself.

If you had searched "downpipe" on this forum you would have seen (within 3 posts of any thread) the mention of internals. So I'm not sure what you searched, but you clearly didn't spend much time on the topic.

If you stick around and start reading in the knowledge base section of the forum, and read your damn welcome PM, then perhaps you will understand better and be more inclined to stick around. We have the most knowledgeable mazdaspeedforum. If you cannot take someone giving you the tiniest bit of crap, then you could always go to mazda247. No one here is going to spoonfeed you shit, and no one is treating you any differently than anyone else who didn't read. MSF isn't your typical forum; you earn your place here and this isn't everyone gets a prize. Should you choose to stick around, I'm sure that you will eventually be thankful that you did and see that you're overreacting a bit at this current time.

Happy Friday.

Holy shit. His asshole remained intact....

But since its Friday, I will help you out @BIOfrequency.

I have the COBB downpipe and absolutely love it. I would recommend getting the HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) internals before doing a downpipe though. It will save your engine from certain death. And i say CERTAIN. So with the downpipe and the fuel pump internals, you should then look at getting a tune. To do so, you will need a tuning device. There are a few options but I recommend the COBB AP. With that you can use there OTS (Off the shelf) tunes or the better route of getting tuned by one of the ETuners we have here. Its relatively inexpensive and will be the most substantial mod you can get. If you have any other questions that you think you may get flamed for here, send me a PM and I will answer whatever it is FOR TODAY ONLY. I may not be in such a good mood tomorrow since I'm working on yet another fuel pump tonight for another member. Good day.
