Default Want to upgrade that leaky valve...

But I'm not a fan of the Forge sound.
How does the TurboXS unit compare? Don't read about to many people with that unit.

Is there a benefit to VTA or hybrid over straight recirculating other than the BOV sound?

Any other suggestions for an upgraded valve are welcome.

Thanks!

TurboXS unit is nice.. But if you are looking for something a little more low cost with some polished bling, the Forge is a good option too. Hyprid or VTA is just for sound imho...

How about something that does both? With ease of adjustment and a great sound.

I'm in the same boat as you. Why can't they have a $160 or less valve that sounds like stock or just not annoying.

Sorry, quality is going to take more money then that. You can get the TurboSmart units that are recirc only that hold more boost with easy adjustments, but you will have to build a flange in order to get them to fit the stock mounting flange.

Turn the control knob, it will quiet down quite a bit.

TurboSmart and we have them in stock. Don't waste your money on the Forge units, they have a horrible reputation for the diaphrams leaking. The XS units are not bad, but the TurboSmart units are just that much better.

Check out the site and there should be a sound clip of on on there, thanks.

The MS is still to new. They have had issues with the EVO, SRT4 and WRX models. They diaphram keeps blowing out of them.

HKS's valve is really over related and needs a conversion flange to work. More people replace it, than keep it.

I just installed the Turbosmart hybrid and it sounds just like the factory valve only a little louder. Plus, it comes with the block off plate so you can run it in full recirc or full VTA. I would suggest this valve to anyone.

Resale value of the valve should be very high also.

^ So the turbosmart can be full recirc and you dont need to build a flange or buy one? PTPs site says its just bolt on but on here he said you need to build a flange

Lightweight and compact, the Dual Port MPS bolts directly onto the factory plumbing with no specialised tools needed. Supplied with a “screw-in” blanking plug for easy conversion to a fully recirculating (Plumb Back) or a fully atmospheric (Supersonic) BOV.

The Turbosmart ones ive seen already have the flange, its the HKS's that need the flange. Great BPV if the price doesnt scare you away. Eventually ill move to one when i go big power. The little forge can only handle so much boost with its multiple springs and 2 shims.

The "recirc only units" need to have a flange built for them. There is a direct bolt on that can be converted to recirc only if need be.

^ Well I took mine apart and noticed quite a bit of o ring residue inside. Is this normal?

I just tested it to see if my piston had an obvious leak. I depressed the piston with my finger and then covered the vacuum fitting with another finger. Stopped depressing the piston with my finger and the piston did not move until I took my finger off the vacuum fittings orifice. Of course thats not real world but it seems like its sealing properly unless what I did means nothing lol

Plus this model has no diaphram.

I watched a video of a car with the Forge valve and to borrow another poster's words, it sounds like the cha-ching of coins much like a sound effect from Super Mario Brothers.
That would drive me up the wall!

The Turbosmart unit seems like overkill and a waste if all I'm going to do is install the block-off plate.

I'm not planning on adding any more boost. At least not in the near future. :-p

Someone has mentioned that the ca-ching noise can be quieted down/gone using a softer dump tube. Im not sure this works as i havent tried it. I dont mind the noise i neither like it or hate it.

TS unit is over kill, why not build a better part and never have to worry about it?
