Default Which Upgraded Turbo to Choose?

Hello all -

Wanted people's recommendation on what Big Turbo to choose from. Currently, my bottom block is at a Machine Shop and will have 9.5:1 Compression Wiseco Pistons and Pauter Rods.

I will run fully-bolted + Meth + EWG along with a Big Turbo.

Which Turbo do you all recommend?

Thanks,

speed3 or speed6? is it going to be a daily driver? what do you realisticly want for power? Can you deal with more lag or would you rather have a quiick spool over peak power?

I have a speed3....my car is not a daily driver, i only use it every now and then.

I want to have at least 350whp.

Im looking for a big turbo, not the PG reworked one or the PTP SST.

there's a few options, starting from smaller to larger.

ATP GT3071R Bolt-On Garrett Turbo Upgrade MAZDASPEED3
ATP GT3076R Bolt-On Garrett Turbo Upgrade MAZDASPEED 3
ATP GT3582R Bolt-On Garrett Turbo Upgrade: MAZDASPEED3
you could also go with a gt28 that would come on a little faster then all of these but has less potential for power then the others, but would have a better powerband then the stock k04 and still more power. I don't think the speeds have a huge turbo aftermarket yet so there isn't a ton of choices.

Or chose something that uses a T3/T4 exhaust housing and your choices will be infinite. The ATP exhausts housing don't flow for crap and a porting is recommended. A T3/T4 housing is by design a better flowing part. This may require a custom exhaust manifold and downpipe but there are some T3 flange'd exhaust manifolds out there you just have to look for them.

In my very unprofessional opinion i would like to point out that the exhaust housings themselves are not that bad, just the wastegate opening could use some porting (the atp turbos are notorious for boost creep)
if your going to stay stock flange (much less effort), the atp turbos are about your only option.
if your willing to get some different flanges going, your options are much greater (like said above)

I think the gt3067r or gt3582r are both great choices depending on your ultimate power goals...

STAY AWAY from any turbo designed to bolt to the OEM flange... The OEM flange is smaller than a T3 flange and will only limit the performance of your turbo...

Be careful getting a used turbo, you are already using so much money building the engine so you don't want to waste more by taking a chance on a used one where it might have to be replaced or not preform as well as you may think. It's ultimately your choice, but yea the Race Roots system does look like a good setup so far.

What about the gt3071r? It sais it spools 500rpm quicker than gt3076 and is efficient to 22psi. I wonder if it will hold 20psi to redline.

you could also go with a gt28 that would come on a little faster then all of these but has less potential for power then the others, but would have a better powerband then the stock k04 and still more power. I don't think the speeds have a huge turbo aftermarket yet so there isn't a ton of choices.
are u fucking serious? atp? lawlzzzzzz
