Unhappy Turbo seals went
YAY so my turbo started smoking after 2 years of owning my mk1. I dreaded this day for sooooo long since knowing the mk1 had a dodge turbo and that the seals were going to give in one day..

Anyway I also found another boo-boo, the ss gasket between the ex-mani and the tb was klaaaaar :bash: Dunno what the previous owner did to it, but yeah would also explain why my consuption was soooo bad.

Took me about 2.5hours to remove all in a small garage and with only a scissors jack LOL *takes a bow :king:

The impeller had a lot of play! Almost 2mm

I sent the turbo in today at TURBO REPAIR MASTER-021 511 8641/2 - 082 899 6930 - Mieshal Parker and getting re-conned under warranty. They will try and see if they can upgrade to bearing type.

Where can I get this gasket, except from the stealership?

ok a few things:

its a gen1, not mk1, we dont have volkswagons.

the other person probably didnt tighten the turbo down properly

that 900 degree stuff may not be enough, you might want to go with 2000 degree stuff

I have a gasket for sale, pm me about it

Turbo came back and I fitted it yesterday! Plus a new gasket! So happy!!
