OK, just FYI to all who ordered from the latest batch. The bolts are on backorder. I was able to get 2 more bolts and got those drilled. Sending those two out today to:

L****** P***** (name deleted at user request)
Joseph LoCurto

The rest are on back order. If it looks like it will be a while until the bolts come off of backorder, I'll look at issuing refunds next week if the buyers wish.

The only way to tell is pull your dp off and look and see if you see oil residue there, then u know for sure its coiming from the turbo seals, whick it prob is, i had to have mine replaced around 20,000 miles, smokeg like a choo choo train after running it har and then stoppping or at idle randomly, if it smoked under full throttle it coould just be all the blow by, and contaminated fuel, oil ect burning off due to the shitty oem pcv and egr system, search new oil catch can write up, that will cure booth crank presure and VC pressure at full boost and vacum unlike any other OCC set up plus you only need one OCC!! look it up

I don't know. Are you Roy Hamilton, Mike King, or Chad Miller? No details on screen name in those payments and can't tell from your user name.

I've looked at a couple of torn apart replaced turbos at the local Mazda dealership and confirmed what several rebuilders have already stated... that almost ALL of the turbos replaced under warranty DIDN'T have bad seals. It's the PCV pressure combined with the oil pressure at the feed line that makes them push oil past the seals. Just because it pushes oil past the seals doesn't make the seals bad or vice versa, in most cases it's simply being over pressurized. Further proof by many people that get their turbo replaced and it still smokes just as bad or worse with the new turbo.

I wonder if venting the OEM PCV to atmosphere would be better than keeping the PCV system in a closed loop by running an OCC.... That would at least relieve the pressure in the crankcase?

Hmmm... now that I think about it, running a second, good quality, PCV as part of the OCC setup would prevent the crankcase pressure build up right?

its pretty irrelivant too the whole bold issue but my buddy has an 07 audi A4 and he just put a turbo back on his car. he was talking all sorts of shit about how awesome it is....until he called me up that night like "hey man when i pulled into my garage my exhaust wa smoking!!!" i just laughed n joked about his turbo wa shot and blah blah blah. then just told him "welcome to the smoking turbo club" lmfao.

just wanted people to see its not only our cars.

Umm, duh, it's a banjo fitting, that part is where the female part of the banjo sits so, it's not threaded into anything.

That's the part of the threads I had to grind down to punch set it better. Not all of them look like that, just the ones that have trouble getting the tiny bit started. It does not effect the function in any way as that part of the threads are not used (that area is inside the banjo fitting, no need for threads).

EDIT: On a side note, my bolts came in today and I'll get them machined tonight.

I thought I blew my shit up today... was working on my air/water ver 2.0 and thought I could temporarily plug off the valve cover PCV hose. Smoked so bad I think I sent a smoke signal message for the Injuns on the reservation to attack! LOL! So just FYI to those that think the PCV system sucks so bad, it actually does work at least somewhat. I'll have to put a filter on there temporarily instead of plugging it and I'll just have to deal with the f-ed up fuel trims until I get a chance to tap back into metered air after the MAF section I made.

Let's see, I've been on a 40wt since June of last year when the car had about 5000 miles on it. I've had an SM OCC since about 2000 miles. I added the 2nd OCC to the valve cover last fall sometime. I tried your bolt. I've had WI since January. None of it matters. Once I put the CBE on it has bellowed smoke like crazy. If you have an open exhaust, it's not gonna take long to start puffing if you have one of the crappy ones like me. I have way to many mods to even attempt to go to the dealer. Just gonna finish it off with a new huffer and be done with this POS one.

I feel your pain. I smoked for over a year before getting to this point and I still worry every day that I'm going to see it billow yet again.

After going through this latest air/water fabrication, I've decided to test some other PCV fixes to see if I can eliminate the need for the bolt all together. When I had the valve cover hose plugged it smoked worse than it ever had before. This morning I put a breather on it and it stopped again.

Prior to putting the breather on though, I plugged in my vacuum/boost gauge and wasn't seeing any vacuum at all under idle, but DashDaq was reading -10 psi at idle. I open the port on my catch can and feel enough to suck my finger as if I were sucking on a straw... so somewhere between the catch can and valve cover there's a HUGe loss of that neg pressure. Thinking stock PCV may be clogged again, not that the flow path is very good at all anyway though. Going to relocate that sucker for sure this time. I like PTP's relocation position as far as layout goes, but I don't like the fact that it's basically venting the baffle area of the valve cover from one end to the other, which isn't really going to lower crankcase pressure any at all.

Starting to give up on this whole exhaust smoke... might just suck it up and reinstall the stock cats. Well maybe just the mid cat just to cover it up a bit

Bnoon,

I've searched the forums for "smoke idle" and other variations and I'm not finding anything current.

Is there a current thread for this?

I just turned my 06 MS6 into a stop light BBQ by adding a CPE turbo back exhaust and I'm feeling super tarded and am thinking about selling the car rather than replacing the turbo or going through the pain of eating the cost of the CPE exhaust and re-installing the OEM exhaust system. Not even sure replacing the turbo is a solution, as CPE sells new turbos for $1200 with a disclaimer about smoke at idle.

Wow. You just won the oldest zombification of a thread ever.

You need to search some more. You've got a few options regarding your problem, but you need to do the legwork first. Posting in a 4 year old thread isn't the way to do it. (And actually, if you'd read first, you might not have had your problem at all.)
