Default HOLY FRIGGIN SMOKE(S)

So I just finished installing my Corksport DP and what do my eyes see.....smoke. Lots of it, blueish white smoke. Smells like burnt oil of course. Just so you know I have the RP and full 3" exhaust. 15,000 miles on the car. This truly blows.....smoke. I am seriously pissed that such a simple part that on so many other cars is fine, isnt on the MS3. WTF is up with these seals. I knew going into it that there might be some smoke but I never expected there to be this much.

What do you guys think I should do? Go to the dealer as it is and hope for the best or put it back to stock(bboooooo) and mask the problem? I vote for just taking it in as it is and rolling the dice.

Yeah...i was a bit worried when I put mine on. I would take it in how it is, like he said it is a known problem. Hopefully they're understanding and aren't just out to screw you over or something. If they give you crap you could probably get Mazda N/A involved somehow too.

yeah some of them will look for ANY reason to say its yur fault, but it is a well documented prob. From what I read your seals are bad the cats just covers up the bad seals thats why alot of people who install the dp don't have this issue..

I pour out a good amount of smoke just with the test pipe, so even that big ass cat on the stock dp cant hide all of it. I even got smoke with all of the cats, just not as often. I will give Mazda credit, their cats really do work when it comes to cleaning up the air

I had some smoke before I did any mods really....but it was only after I would cruise on the highway for at least 10 mins or so...then when I would floor it getting off the highway or whatever I'd get a huge puff of smoke. I still do now (catless) it's just a little more lol. I think that's just some unburned fuel getting pushed out since we run so rich and it just collects in there overtime if don't floor it and push it out. At least thats why understanding of it, lol. Yesterday I floored it after driving for like an hour cruising and I got a loud POP!, I'm thinking it caught on fire and shot flames lol. I think we all get smoke like this it's just bad when you get it while idling all the time and its blueish in color

i said you'd think the earlier ones have problems, but that doesn't necessarily seem to be the case. Only time will tell I guess.

I should have something for you if you need something right away.

Now this will fix some smoking issues but not all of them. There are some truly bad turbos out there (we have seen them). I have 4 or 5 small catch cans sitting here that I could pop together really quick if need be. Let me know.

buy yourself a good BAFFLED can and install it in line with the PCV and the intake manifold. while you are at it put a one way check valve in there too. the can will catch all that oil that gets sucked in under vacuum, and the chech valve will stop all the air that normaly leaks past the shitty PCV valve. there is a write up by WHOOSH on the 24/7 forum in the MS6 section.... i dont have time to hunt it down at the moment.

not if it is only on the outlet side. that indicates bad turbo seals. if the cai is wet on the inside especially by the PCV breather port, then yes it will help.
did that just start with the CS TBE ??
do you get smoke ?

guys
TRU-BOOST is right on the money

just like many other mods, this may or may not cure some smoking but I can assure you 100%, that installing a catch can between the actual PCV and intake mani will cure oil in your intake tract and contamination / build up on your valves

there is another problem that has surfaced that TRU-BOOST mentioned: the fact that a check valve is needed in addtion to the baffled catch can.
Our OEM PCV valve leaks and causes excessive crank case pressure. I can't say what adverse affect that has on the MZR at this point in time but logically, it's not something you want.

The ideal set up (my set up)
is using a 90 degree fitting where the PCV valve currently resides
run your hose to the "INLET" side of the catch can.
Then install a heavy duty oneway or check valve on the "OUTLET" side of the catch can.
Then obviously run that hose back to the rear vacuum port of the intake manifold.

I'll post my test results in vid form of the leaky brand new PCV valve - it's bad, really bad

here are a few pics for those that haven't seen them.
I empty my catch can every weekend and get the same amount of fuelishoilywhitebrownstuff every time

Can you be more specific on the check valve? Which one and where can we find it?

We have the check valves, every just laughed at us on the other sites when we said we had them. Hmm, looks like some people are starting to get an idea of what they need.
