Default Help

just wondering if anyone can help me figure out why my 2011 MS3 won't boost over 7psi. everything was fine yesterday and I was getting the usual 15+ psi but when I went to drive the wife to work this morn it wouldn't boost over 7psi. drove around for and hour to make sure it was nice and warm as it is currently -20 C and there was no change to the boost pressure. any ideas what my problem is?

Any tuning device that can log? Or maybe Bluetooth that you can run torque on? Regardless it sounds like you have a massive leak.

What's your mod list?
Any recent work done?

Check your boost tubes from turbo to intercooler, intercooler to throttle body.
Check that the vacuum line is still on the bypass valve.
Can you hear any air rushing?

I assume then, you are basing boost levels off of the stock gauge?

Time to start checking clamps. Isn't the stock tip prone to falling off?
Also your stock "boost gauge" is more of a throttle position gauge. Otherwise I'm on "15 psi" all day...

Lol that's what I'm talking about, Mazda knew we were going to pull that pos off anyway so they barely put it on.

I'm no scientist but if it's past the maf sensor it wouldn't read it unless it was bad enough to effect your a\f ratio to throw a lean or rich at idle code.

No.

If you have a small/gross leak that shifts your fuel trims dramatically then it may pop a cel.

You most likely have a clamp that isn't tight enough, and while under boost, is letting enough air out to not allow you hit the boost tgt's. (as mentioned above)

Already mentioned, but it's most likely a leak between your turbo and throttle body

Stock tune is load based.
Considering you've reported your local temp as -4F, I suspect the ECU is not allowing it to boost any higher or the calculated load is near target and higher boost psi isn't needed.

I think you still won't hit full boost on really cold days. That's just part of the stock tune protecting you from overloading. Cold air is more dense so less boost pressure is needed.

Think about it if it happens again... Does the car feel any weaker/slower when boost gauge isn't fully pegged to the top?
