Default Gen 1 Speed 3 downpipe

Hello everyone I am sort of new to Mazdaspeed 3's and I was doing some reading on downpipes and how they need to be a specific brand and style otherwise you can damage your turbo over time and have issues with your ECU. I know the COBB downpipe is a really good choice but that is over $700. Are there other brands out there that are worth looking into that are less expensive? But yet still reliable?

Also do I need other exhaust componants when I buy a downpipe? or is it just bolt on in lue of the OEM downpipe?

Thanks guys

The part about the turbo may of been smoking. If I'm not crazy the belief was a dp with no cat, brand is not important inclusion of cat is what topic were on, that stuff that would be burned up in a dual or single cat escaping out the tail pipe is what I believe you read about. Brands are much less to blame. #turbosealssuck

When it comes to brands such differences were bellmouth cast or not, flange being donut type at the exhaust or not, one piece or two etc. I don't know much of anything but hopefully that helps you a little. Also there's the debate of cheap eBay ones cracking etc. I won't go into that just mentioning it should come up in searching. Any how good luck l, there's a few basics to look out for and welcome?
