| Not Ranked : 0 score yes, thats why they collapse under boost. if the turbo is creating boost, its creating more vacuum in the inlet...

| Not Ranked : 0 score No, I understand what he meant exactly... Under boost, weak silicone will expand, not collapse. It's the suction of vacuum that causes it to collapse. I was just trying to be a smart-ass. Sorry |

| Not Ranked : 0 score A silicone inlet will not only have to be strong against collapse, but the engine movement will be pushing and pulling it against the stock airbox or cold air intake. Just look at the video: The shiny piece in the center of the video is my MS CAI. This is with the stock inlet which is fixed against the engine by the mounting stud. A silicone inlet most likely won't be mounted down and will be put under a lot of stress by engine movement.

I love their stuff to death, but the back order on basically everything they fukin make besides suspension that they bought off of hotchkis is ridiculous. Maybe this will make them a little hastier |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score if the cheesy little rubber couplers on the stock inlet can take all that movement without getting torn to shreds, an all silicone one will be fine. the last update i got said it will be a few weeks. they have a new STI in the shop that is eating up a good deal of their R&D time right now. soon enough fellas....soon enough ! |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score that little stud makes it even worse on the cheap ass couplers then....good point ! the stud is holding the inlet still and the CAI is mounted with a stud too but to the frame not the motor. so you have the motor pulling one way and the cai trying to stay still. that means that coupler in between the two has to take some punishment ! either way i dont think it is gonna make a shits bit of difference. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I looked at the ATP page. And, TRU-BOOST is right, they have a different inlet pipe for the 3 vs the 6. But, what is very bizarre is, every picture of the inlet pipe of the 3 I've seen looks as near as I can tell to be exactly the same. The picture on ATP's site only shows a small part of the stock, but, what they show looks exactly the same. Further, a guy named "Speedy3" makes a part that looks very similar to mine. I probably wouldn't have even made my part if I had known about his, but I was already in the middle of production when I found his. At least from the pictures, it looks like his part would fit my car. And his pictures of the stock inlet looks like mine. At any rate, I am going to send one of mine to a Speed 3 user to check fitment. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score The stock inlets for the CX-7, Speed3 and Speed6 ARE exactly the same. The difference is the space between the battery box and engine. The speed 6 has a battery mount screw and wire harness that sit next to the battery box towards the engine (not to mention a different battery box). The CX-7 is virtually the same except it has a transmission dipstick that goes down and turns underneath the inlet toward the engine (down to the transmission).

| Not Ranked : 0 score Thanks Speedy3. Speedy3 and I came up with very similar designs for an inlet pipe, independently. I didn't know about his product until I had mine in process of production. It is weird that ATP has two different parts listed. But their part for the Speed 3 looks a lot better than their part for the Speed 6, and I think a newer design. Perhaps they are just doing testing on the Speed 6 before they list it for the 6 and drop their old product. That's just a guess, I don't know. As someone else noted, the stock part is mounted to the turbo, and to a bolt on top, so, it is not subject to engine motion. My part and Speedy3's part both make use of the top mount like the stock part. Speedy3 has offerred his with ceramic coating. I haven't offerred mine that way, but, you could have it done yourself. I mainly did mine simply because up until when I started doing mine, there had been no good options. I probably wouldn't have done it if I know about Speedy3's. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Has there been more word from Forge on this? Pictures have been release of the COBB inlet pipe, shown elsewhere on this forums.... Forge needs to get to the market soon with this if they're gonna get the sales. We all know of Cobb's issues with supply, but this is just silicone and thats never been their problem. |
