| Not Ranked : 0 score 1. Rust won't be an issue since both the ic and valve cover are aluminum 2. If you are worried about hard water and its problems use alcohol (windsheild wiper fluid is 50 % water and 50 % alcohol) It evaporates faster than water if you spray it. If you want you can use higher concentrations of alohol for better evaporation and cooling 3. Sprayers can be hooked up with temp dependent controllers so they spray at certain temps. Doing it manually is pointless 4. You would need to spray a LOT of fluid to remove significant amount of heat from the ic. Hope this helps Harry

^ a few posts above, a lot of water isn't necessary. Water can store a great deal of energy in a very small amount. Put some water on a stove and bring it to boil. Stick your hand over the steam and watch it condensate into droplets. When they go from gas to liquid they release a good deal of stored energy in the form of heat. It's not the steam that burns your hand, it's the energy from the state change. Likewise going from liquid to gas requires a good bit of energy given the atmosphere of the engine compartment. Even a little bit of water will make a slight difference. The amount being misted will make a noticeable change. I think the pump I bought flows around 1 gpm. Now if the water is in large droplets it will be much less effective than a fine mist. That goes back to the maximum surface area for a given volume. If the mist is fine enough a small amount of liquid (say 1 quart) should make a noticeable change. I was talking with SLS about this sprayer a while ago and he made a good point. The majority of the heatsoak is occurying on the valve cover side of the intercooler. To make the spray effective it needs to hit both sides of the intercooler. He also suggested heat reflective tape to reduce the soak. I'm thinking about getting a piece of aluminum, covering it with the reflective tape then drilling the hole pattern of the mounting points on the IC. That way I can bolt the plate directly between the valve cover and the intercooler. I can then mount nozzels on the plate to spray on the underside of the IC. Shouldn't be more than 60 or 70 dollars for everything and I think it will make a notable reduction in boost temp. Idk though. I'll look at it today more. Being sick means no going to the gym. | Not Ranked : 0 score just a side note, if any of you fmic guys try this remember to put a "one way" valve in between the i/c and pump, might even need one between reservoir and pump depending on how you mount stuff. if the i/c is lower than the pump then once you spray youll get a nice syphon going and youll be scratching your head when everytime you come to your car you water is empty even though you havent driven the car in 12hrs. top mounts shouldnt need this because the water is flowing upwards. i had this on my fmic in my old srt and it took me a minute (week) to figure it out so i figured id save someone the headache.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Steel = Rust. Aluminum = Corrosion. Just a little kindergarten info for you noobs. Water on any metal provides some type of eating it. However, I really doubt you will have problems, my valve cover gets hot enough to steam the water right off. Props to the OP on this mod.
