(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score It's not the most quality gauge so this could be normal but just thought I would ask. |

| I heard that the fluttering is normal since that's the way our EBCS works. sent from my HTC One M9

| Not Ranked : 0 score mechanical gauges that lack a damper will flutter quite a bit since they are capable of reading out the pulsation in the vacuum of the engine and to a lesser degree variations in boost pressure when intake valves open and close. One thing you can do to correct this is to install a restrictor pill (think small metal or plastic piece with a very tiny hole in it) in the line that goes to your boost gauge. This will slow the reaction time of your gauge. If you size the restriction hole appropriately, the gauge will no longer flutter and will not have a significant lag behind your manifold pressure.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I understand I'm dealing with a completely different set of rules now as compared to all of my past Turbo experience (pre OBDII turbo cars)... So to hear flutter on a boost gauge is normal makes me ask for a second opinion. In my old world experience, boost gauge flutter is weak valve springs/leaky bcs or some real cause and not normal; and usually prefaced having to pay money to the head gasket gods, if not the liquid piston gods... Every time I've seen flutter I've spent money if I ignored it. So, normal or not on? |
