Motovative Performance is making these, now for T4 and T6 split tang turbines:  Here's there thread about it on LS1tech: Motovative Insta-Boost Quick Spool valve - LS1TECH If you want a little bit of history and info about why this is awesome, I pulled this out of the archives from theturboforums (which I was a part of way back when): Faster spool and more boost Six years ago when we were talking about this, the design wasn't feasible due to reliability...apparently that's been fixed. Hopefully this isn't a repost!!! @silvapain - this is the type of stuff I was talking about with blocking one side off to increase spool time!!!

| Not Ranked : 0 score in my field of work (DIESEL MECHANIC) a very similar system is used on the turbos it is a great add-on my only problem with this is if it fails so will your turbo. it happens alot in the diesel field. but one thing is for sure those diesel engines wont run right with out it. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score what would this do for backpressure in the 2 blocked cylinders? the RDX turbo uses a flapper to divert ALL exhaust gas to a single side of a TS housing and then as RPM climbs it opens both channels to full airflow.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score wweeeeeeelllllllll, you couldn't really run this if you had a split header...meaning two cylinders running to one side of the turbine housing, and the other two going to the other side. This would only work with an exhaust manifold where all runners merge into one before the turbo.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The only way to really leverage this is with a single collector/scroll manifold mated to a twin scroll turbo. Just so we're clear, any other combination will at best be ineffective, or potentially harmful to your engine (in the case of twin scroll mani, for instance).

I have one of these turbos in my garage right now; considered it, but it is kind of a big turbo and REALLY REALLY heavy to sling from the side of the 'Speed.

I wanted to hear if anyone has gone down this route since early 2011 when this was first discussed? I'm picking up a Borg Warner S200SX 7670 with a T4 TwinScroll AR1.00 hotside and if this quick spool valve is any good it would save me a lot of hassle as i could then just make up an openscroll T4 mani instead of twinscroll. My main fear is that plate coming loose and grenading the turbo and motor. Keen to hear the views on this.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I wouldn't worry about the plate coming loose. Seems it's welded on the shaft. Not bolted on. Even if it dislodged from the shaft, it would probably just get caught in the volute of the turbine housing and not damage the turbine.
