(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Check out the video - just wondering what you guys think. I am not looking to get this done but it looks like a viable option for an Upgrade to me, I have very little knowledge about this stuff though.

| Not Ranked : 0 score ~$400 upgrade, 2-3 weeks turn around usually. Buddies car made 310awhp and 390awtq in his speed6 on e85. I've also got one in one of my ms6s but haven't had it dyno tuned yet, still on an ots map lol

| Not Ranked : 0 score Not worth it. Not enough of an increase to justify the price. Bnr s3 or corksport puppy turbo is the way to go.

| Not Ranked : 0 score This was awd and to the wheels on a dyno with no aux fueling. With a ms3 you would for sure have better results all around. It's also about half the price of a bnr and comparable performance to the CS.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Okay, imagine this, you have a Smokey k04, gotta replace it... Don't want to go as big as a BNR so you're trying to find a good k04. How much is a new k04? How much is a good used k04? I know a rebuilt and oversized k04 that can do 24psi w/o being maxed out is $400...

| Not Ranked : 0 score Its kinda weird that not many people on this forum, which is the Mecca for mazdaspeed 3/6 world, is using this. Mind you I have only been on the forum for a little under a year so I could be wrong but, until I see data and others installing this I am a little hesitant. At $400 this would be the best bang for your buck. Waiting for more info. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

| Not Ranked : 0 score Cs and Bnr are 400 whp turbos. This is a waste, the ko4 housing itself is the biggest restriction to making power on this platform.

| Not Ranked : 0 score VW K03 K04 Turbo Upgrade | Turbo Lab Turbo Lab Turbo Upgrades for Audi, voltswagon, BMW, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Nissan, Buick, Mazda, and more. They do turbo upgrades for basically anything. They are pretty well known by many performance shops. They don't "specialize" in k04s, and haven't done a whole lot of k04s for the mazdas but what they have done is damn good work on the two I've seen in person and improve on the factory designs. The k04 from them is a lot less likely to smoke than the OEM.

| Not Ranked : 0 score My thoughts from a California resident, a modded k04 is sleeper enough to not need to be another component necessary to swap for smog and can give added performance. Not too shabby for 400 bucks if I can smog with it too.

Can't be any worse than the k04 stock. Not that it's saying much ...

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Very good discussion on this topic! Thanks for all the replies and Input guys. FWIW - if it only holds up as well as a stock K04 and it dose put out more power, then to me it seems like for $400 its a great option.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Brand new k04 is about the same price as corksport and bnr. I'd rather spend 1000 once than 400 twice and have to deal with the headaches involved with blown turbos. At that end of the day, it's your car. Make sure they warrant it Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

| Not Ranked : 0 score I hit 305/372 on 93 with my k04. If I ran any type of E mix I could get much higher figures. I understand that is a dyno of a 6 but as far as being "upgraded" I would want more.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Not exactly an upgrade, but RPM is selling these now: FTG addresses the issues inherent to our k04 and for $600. FTG K04-882 OEM Replacement Turbo @ therpmstore.com On the turbolabs: upgraded wheels are great, but if it doesn't address the real issues with the turbo, what's the point? You can see why it's only $400.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score let me ask this question, just for my education. Lets just go with the assumption that this $400 upgrade will net whatever (call it 40-50) more HP. What other options are there for that same $400 investment that will give you the same or similar increase in HP? If you feel like playing lets hear your thoughts =). If not that's cool too O and PS - which of the options would give you the Most efficient power? IE - Best MPG =) How about that for a stumper lol

2. Cobb AP and an E85 tune will get you to 300+ whp and 350+ wtq, no matter if it's an MS3 or MS6. 3. All can be made efficient. I get precisely the same highway fuel economy on my BNR S3 that I did on the K04. In town, it's all about how you drive. Exactly. If this thing made 305awhp and 370awtq without E85 or aux fueling, I'd be more impressed.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Lol there is no increase vs a standard k04. The power drops off hard past 5500 just like a k04. This may gain you 5-10 PEAK whp but that is it. This is not an upgrade at all

| Not Ranked : 0 score How much does it cost to rebuild a K04? Just out of curiosity. And I'm sure with meth and or aux fueling this would do a lot better. Either way, I got a non smoky turbo for less than $500

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Speedfreak - when you rebuilt your K04's , did you try to seal the compressor side housing? The Turbolabs kit comes with an O ring but the stock turbo dosent use an Oring. I was wondering whay you did? Thanks man
