Default Mazda3 Crank vs Speed3 Crank

Hey fella's new here and too mazda's. I'm helping my buddy build a spare motor he has. It's a 2004 Mazda3 2.3L engine, Now his crank is shot and they want 1200 for a new one and its cast. Good for what? 300HP???? I have been searching around and cant seem to figure this out>> So here are few Q's for you guys.

Found The Answers to some
1. Is the speed3 Crank Forged?? YES
2. How much HP can a Speed3 crank take before breaking??
3. Is there a crank that can hold upto 700ish HP other then the Billet one for $3400??
4. other then the rod journals being bigger on the speed 3 crank will the crank fit a mazda3 2.3L??? YES it bolts right in!! The rods journals are bigger on the speed3 Crank

Any help would be awsome

The rod and main journals on the ms3 crank are both larger and the ms3 crank may have a bigger stroke, I cant remember what the stoke is for the 2004 2.3l

The ford ranger 2.3l crank was/is forged and should a bolt in.

The speed 3 crank specs:

The block/girdle ID is ~58.42mm or ~2.3"
The crank main OD is 2.045"
Crank main available width on crank .835"
Crank main bearing width .747"
Main bearing thickness ... I forgot to get... I think its ~.115" but im prolly wrong.

Rod ID 2.16"
Crank rod OD 2.045"
Rod bearing width .655"
Rod bearing thickness .055"
Rod bearing available room on rod .78"
Rod bearing available width on crank .665"

Those are approximate because every crank and bearing is slightly different.

I usually tune my car using a harmonica cause I'm tight like that. It may be the reason my g string is a little flat when I go wot.

I don't think he gets it.

1. He thinks he's doing pretty well for himself considering his lack of spelling skills. (Hell, maybe he is; I'm not sure I know anyone else who can't spell to compare salaries to.)

2. He does't take to dick-ish sarcasm very well.

Welcome to the forum buddy. Now DONATE!

1. the amount of dough it would take to make a n/a speed remotely fast would greatly exceed that of a stock speed 3...and it would still be slow

2. maybe he realizes the value of a speed 3 and because he understands the value of items is the reason he has so much money

3. fuck off brownie
